I'm amazed that NFL officials, in their greed-induced stupor, don't see the double-edged sword that TV blackouts represent.
One one hand, they are viewed as an inducement to make fans buy tickets at the stadium. OTOH, if all the home games are blacked out, I think the NFL runs a very real risk of causing the local populace to start losing interest in the team. Then, the league is caught in a vicious circle - declining interest equals more black outs, which fuels additional lack of interest.
Perhaps blackouts should be based on league average attendance, or similar metric that doesn't penalize smaller markets with large stadiums that are hard to fill?

Wow that's hard to believe. You would think we a young improving team they would've sold out some games.
It was almost a guarantee that all NFL games would sell out for the most part up to a few years ago. Between the horrible economy and the escalating ticket prices over the past 5 years to pay for the player's increased salary boost they started getting then has certainly affected ticket sales. People need to put their main priorities first.
Then as somebody else said above, the less they are on TV the more people lose interests in what's going on with the team. You are also hurting the chances of kids in that area becoming fans of the team which hurts you over the long haul. Most people fall in love with their team at a young age and never switch unless they are bandwagon jumpers. When they are not playing in the local market and the kids are watching other teams play instead you risk the chance of losing that fanbase for years to come.
There is so many reasons why they aren't selling out......
The amt of fans that are from somehwere else...Very Transit in Tampa....
FL was hit as hard as any state in the country with the economy.
Tampa and there jobless is huge.
The whole housing market is an absolute mess in Florida, my house is worth $80,000 less then what I bought it for......
So yea people just aren't spending the $$ in Tampa.........
Ownership the fans can't stand either. The Glazers kept raising the prices every year and it finally bit them in the ass.......
