Love it! Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey getting even more familiar with their southern boys.
4-12 you would think they be concentrating on their own team.
Great news
Yeah it's not like they can't scout while they're down there coaching or anything. It's not like they're going on a golf trip to get some rest and relaxation..Originally Posted by TacklingDummy
By going to the Senior Bowl, you get to "smell the breath" of the prospect and formulate an opinion while those players are running your system. So they are in fact focusing on the team during a week in January when you're getting ready for the draft as well!
Good to hear, gives them extra time with the South Seniors....
http://www.buffalobills.com/news/art...a-ce6407f1efdc“The thing that you get out of this is you get personal exposure to them,” said Gailey. “You can only get so much out of film and you can only get so much out of interviews at the NFL Combine. Dealing with them in a football atmosphere on a day to day basis shows you how much they can learn, if they pay attention to detail, who is a born leader and who is not, who is a good practice player. Those are all things you get by working with them on a daily basis.”
Very nice!
Who's going to be on the South squad? Are invites out yet?
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?
Must be scouting Christian Ponder.
This is an excellent chance for this organization to see the upcoming talent in the draft up close. Love it!

Keep in mind Mallett, Newton, and Gabbert won't be there... they aren't seniors.
Guys like Love, Pouncey, Zeimba, Hudson, Gilbert, and Carpenter will all get a close look. A few guys who could be RT's.
Also Ponder, Hankerson, Stocker, and DJ Williams
Zeimba and Love are the two I hope Gailey and Co. look at the most. We need that new RT.
I really don't want Ponder.

Good to see. Any extra edge we can get out of it, will be welcome. Might not make so much difference with the #3 pick, but could have much more significance further down the draft, when harder decisions have to be made. Additional exposure to some guys who might be able to play, is no bad thing.
Absolutely. I haven't researched the drafts of the previous coaches. I'd be interested to see how well they did in the next draft, how many players they took from that roster, and how they turned out.Originally Posted by Buddo

I know the Bucs and the Bengals have thrived in the past on the Senior Bowl kids.Originally Posted by X-Era

The two coaching staffs of the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl selected a combined six Senior Bowl players with the Cincinnati Bengals (North squad) choosing four and the Jacksonville Jaguars (South squad) choosing two.

Williams' ability to pick up a plethora of things Gruden was throwing at him on the practice field all week was one of the things that convinced the Bucs to take him with the fifth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.
