Anyone ever try HIIT for cardio?

High Intensity Interval Training... It is a form of cardio that is hardcore and very effective. You can google it but it works as follow. It can be done on a bike, treadmill, track, pool, elliptical, stairmaster.

    4 minutes at moderate speed

30 secs Peddle to metal as fast as humanly possible then 30 secs moderate speed
Do this 8 times 30 secs fast as hell/30 moderate. It gets very hard and if you feel like death you are doing it correctly in the sense of running truly as fast as possible.

Then 3 minutes Moderate to finish. It is freaking awesome

I tried tabata boxing rounds. Looks easy on paper, but very hard.

The benefit of HIIT is shorter time doing cardio but more results in that short time due to the intensity. And the other big benefit is that HIIT doesn't lead to muscle loss which can occur during longer cardio sessions.

    I do cardio daily.
It is an excellent tool for the fitness and weight management.
I do jogging, running, swimming, and pushups in my daily workout routine.
You can do any of these in your daily workout for the weight management.

Since this thread got bumped, as has anyone who was using this back in 2011 felt the results? Is it worth it?

How much of your cardio did you do in this fashion, all of it?

    Best cardio = sprint training.
Sets of 40-60m runs with moderate jogging and walking on off days.

If you cant sprint, then simulating that workout on a bike is good.

You can call it whatever you want.

I am a PE teacher, and our MS kids do this everyday. I pick 4 exercises, we work for anywhere from 40 secs to 60 secs, rest 15 secs, and keep going for 8 rounds (do each exercise twice). Kids really like it, and a lot of our kids have really increased their individual cardio output!! BTW, I always do these circuits with the kids!!

Yes, I had tried HIIT for cardio, it is good and gives positive results. High Intensity Interval Training is most commonly used for maximum weight loss. I also found that it is less boring than normal run or walk.
