Tonight in my backyard, it was like Noah's Ark!!!

I had two chipmunks, two morning doves, two little brown sparrows, and my favorites of all......TWO blue jays!!!!

I was so excited, I could barely contain myself!

Then, those damn squirrels came and ruined EVERYTHING! They came in twos too. One was on the ground, and the other little pecker was in the bird feeder!

I'm not a violent person and I'd never hurt an animal, but I've gotta tell you, these squirrels are really testing me!!!

Anyway, it was fun while it lasted. I stopped by the store and spent another $20 on bird seed and critter crunch. When I got home, I filled up the bird feeder and the squirrel feeder. I know my roommates won't feed my outdoor animal friends. I think they're going to miss me.

With all the rain you've been getting maybe you should really think about building an Ark...you're getting the animals for it.

That's cute though, J...except the part about the squirrels ruining things.

Ticat bought me a bird book while he was down here and I've been reading it every night. I am trying to figure out what types of birds are coming to my feeder. As I see the different kinds, I'm highlighting the top of the page. The strangest bird that I've seen so far is an Eastern Towhee. I just love my backyard!!

I have only seen the male. The first time I saw him I thought it was an Oriole. I've never seen one of them in the wild and I thought that's what they looked like. Thanks to my bird book I now know what I'm looking at. Now I need to get a pair of binoculars so I can see the birds up really close to see their differences so I can pick them out in my book.

Your squirrels aren't as bad as my squirrels, Jaded. I caught one of them snatching a strawberry from my garden, then running off with it in it's mouth!

First good batch I've had in years (due to all the rain - there's a God send) so thankfully, there's plenty more and he only took a greenish one.

but....

look who showed up in my yard today...she was fatter than Lucy!

We didn't keep her, Ally, she might fight with our Lucy. She took off into the garden when hubby moved the board to get a better look at the size.

She was either pregnant, or just ate a couple of toads. We've never seen one that big, because the crows or something usually get them.

Typ0, the way to tell them apart is by their tail. If it narrows down quickly after the poop shoot, it's a girl. If not, it's a boy.

Why not, Typ0? They're cool. They are not slimey, either. They feel just like a garden hose. They have cool snake-a-nalities, too!
