Minnesota star returning to town after tradeless day


NASHVILLE, Tenn. - If the Buffalo Sabres ever want to make Thomas Vanek feel more at home, whenever he scores a goal the HSBC Arena sound system can play "Edelweiss."

The Sabres received inquiries from as many as 15 teams hoping to obtain the fifth selection in the NHL draft. But the Sabres held on Saturday in the Gaylord Entertainment Center and took the dazzling forward from the Alps. No Austrian has ever been drafted higher.
