If we can't get Richards, I don't want to miss a chance to sign Talbot or some other center because we were waiting for Richards to respond.
i'd bet he signs with someone by the end of the day.... just like drury and briere did a few years ago... take the time to see whats out there, and make your move, he's likely already got his mind made up, just gonna wait to see if someone changes it for him

Seems to me teams should realize that there are 8-9 suitors for Richards and only one Brad Richards. Even if he chose right away, there will be 7-8 teams left in the dust. Every team should have a plan if they don't happen to sign him (whether or not that plan includes simply sitting tight).
I would also think that the lower-level C's available know that they'll be pursued after Richards signs. Thus, it makes sense for them to wait until after Richards selects a team.

I love TSN... 9 guys and 3 desks set up in one studio, plus reporters on location with several teams. Meanwhile ESPN will probably gave a 3 minute segment buried in baseball highlights on Sportscenter, where Melrose flip flops 7 times.
It's a done deal IMO.. No man can resist the smooth talking and determination of our new Owner.. (I have to admit this might be my 1st man-crush)
We have the goaltender, we majorily upgraded our D, we have a player in Vanek who is a major compliment to Richards.
