Given the market its a bargain. Plus I wasn't going to make some silly bid and allow myself to get beat. I found a price I was comfortable with that I knew would avoid being outbid by another bid at the same time.

Because that's how idiots lose out on things.
Bidding up $5, $1, or even $100 is fine if you like wasting your time. The idea is to let people who have no chance of winning bid away and at the last moment not only place the last bid but place it at enough that nobody will counter.
Also considering how high others have gone, Im very comfortable with the price.
