Sorry Ted Leonsis, but you're still stuck with that $11-million US cash cow named Jaromir Jagr. Leonsis, the owner of the Washington Capitals, would like to shed the NHL's highest-paid player from his swelling payroll, especially since the moody superstar has led the Caps to just three playoff home dates in two seasons.
Nevertheless, officials from both the Caps and New York Rangers last night shot down a report indicating Jagr had been shipped in exchange for Peter Nedved, Jamie Lundmark and Matthew Barnaby.
Caps general manager George McPhee admitted earlier this week the two teams had discussed Jagr during the draft in Nashville but stressed that nothing tangible came out of the discussions.
