The Buffalo Sabres scored three goals in the third period to defeat the New York Rangers, 5-2, and win the NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Mich., Wednesday night.
The Sabres took a 2-0 lead early on a power-play goal from Luke Adam and a tally from Marcus Foligno.
The Rangers made it a 2-1 game before the first intermission, then tied the game in the second.
Corey Tropp scored at 1:28 of the third to give the Sabres a 3-2 lead in the third with insurance goals from Dan Catenacci and Foligno. Nathan Lieuwen made 21 saves on 23 shots.
