    Kicking it up to 10k

I did the couch to 5k for 3 straight years. I hit a plateau. I love following plans. Simply running 3 miles every other day became a bore. Just like c25k, there is a program, bridge to 10k, that I've just started. Wish me luck. I never thought I'd want to run more than 3 miles.

    Good luck!

I did my first 10K about a month ago. You will feel great once you do it.

That little voice in the back of your mind?? As soon as you run 5 miles you'll hear it clearly to you to run 10 or a half-marathon.

For all the education and practice each of us undergoes, the achievment of mastery is ultimately the outcome of a personal quest for understanding.

Re: Kicking it up to 10k

I had my best run of my life last night. The bridge to 10k plan gradually adds in time. Last night's run was four 10 minute runs with a minute walk in between. Doing some estimation on how far I walked the 3 intervals, I think I ran 4.4 miles in the 40 minutes of run time. I felt great the whole way.

Re: Kicking it up to 10k

Ran 5 miles in 45 minutes tonight. Totally psyched about it. Furthest I ran in my life. 9 minute mile is the best too at that far distance--never ever maintained it after 2 miles before. Actually my first 2 miles were about 8:30 each and finished with an overall 9.

10k will have to wait until spring.

    Weather too bad?

I'm about to start a running regime this winter.

Re: Kicking it up to 10k

Saturday I ran two separate 5Ks. One at 10 and the other at noon.

I loved it. Felt better have the second one than I did the first. Came in second in my age group at the 2nd one, by 14 seconds. I think I could have knocked that time off in the first two miles too - kinda pissed me off.

I just don't have the patience to try to figure out how to dress for the cold. And I don't want to spend the money on new gear either.

I saw the time! Great going.

What was strange with me is that I had been running consistent 5ks every other day and could not seem to get my pace lower than 9:20is. It wasn't until I upped the distance that I lowered my pace--and kept the pace for the longer distance too!
