Dolphins Franchise Has Lost Its Luster

For years, the Dolphins proudly stood among the NFL’s marquee, model franchises, an esteemed organization that held the distinction — at least until a few years ago — of producing the highest winning percentage of any NFL team since 1970.

That perception has been shattered under the weight of mismanagement, misfortune and a myriad of other factors. Very little of significance has gone right for the Dolphins for a decade, and Friday’s news that coach Jeff Fisher chose the St. Louis Rams instead of Miami will be perceived nationally as the latest setback to a team with just one playoff appearance since January 2002.

“It’s over for them being a marquee franchise,” Manny Fernandez, a standout on the Dolphins’ glory teams of the early 1970s, said Friday night. “The only thing marquee about them is South Beach. How many mistakes have they made? How many bad decisions? It just goes on and on. And it’s ridiculous not to give a coach final say over the personnel he’s responsible for winning with.”

Miami hasn't been a 'model franchise' for 40 years.

As opposed to the Bills who have been such a model organization.

Well when you don't win a Super Bowl in over 30 years, what team like that has any luster?

I'm not throwing stones at glass houses or nothing. I know our team has blown just as bad as the Dolphins have lately. Just posting an article about another AFCE team.
