Smile RUMOR: I heard this at work

Someone at where I work was talking football with me while I was issuing a unit of blood. He claims to be related to someone who works for the Saints.............Browns are trying to work a deal with NO for Brees

Both #1 in 2012 (#4 and #22), QB McCoy, and cond 2nd 2013 (could be a #1) for Brees who they would then make the highest paid QB in the league

NO would then trade both #1's in 2012 as part of a deal to go from #4 to #1 to Indy and take Luck. Don't know the rest of the deal going to Indy. Indy then would target Blackmon or Kalil and then would work with #22, #34, plus to position for the QB of the future (Weeden or Tannyhill)

I know....I know......but no one thought Mario Williams was coming to B-Lo

The fans in New Orleans and Indy would burn down their stadiums if that happened.

Would love to see some action like that on draft day though, just for sheer entertainment value.

It's a stupid trade for Cleveland too.

No weapons there now, no picks to stock Brees with weapons, and destroy cap space to get the team better

Ne wOrleans has a better shot at trading Brees to Indy directly for Luck - but even then it's a bad move by Indy

I don't think it sounds very likely, but if ever there was a time for Cleveland to do something like this, it'd be now.

Can still get Doug Martin in the second then Greg Childs in the third and there are still a ton of WRs that are quality and will go 4th-6th.

    That high?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

The issue isn't getting 3rd round WRs- it's getting Cleveland to be a playoff caliber team with playoff caliber talent at all positions before Brees gets to old or killed out there.

Browns have the most picks in the draft this year

A better QB could make the WRs they have now and make them better

Re: RUMOR: I heard this at work

but what is new orleans motivation to do this? they already have a PR coup on their hands with their coaching staff being banned. Jettison the one qb who had no reservations to save the town and the team after katrina for the possibility of trading with indy who has pretty much said in no uncertain terms that they want the best QB out of the class this year?

They could easily sell brees and then not get the pick and then be left with no other option. The time to make a play for brees was before the suspensions when he was upset about his contract offer. Now its too late.

    Cleveland is screwed.

Not having a GM around makes trading a little tougher too.

I bet the Browns take Weedon, the 29 year old Okla. St. kid in Round 2 and start him immediately.

BTW - does anyone have more of an inflated reputation than Mike Holmgren ? Once he aquired GM duties in Seattle, they went down the drain. He's been a titanic failure in Cleveland.

Yeah. Why pay huge dollars for one guy when you've got so many holes to fill?
