    Cowher 'optimistic' about defense as camp nears

    Steelers coach Bill Cowher said he feels good about his defense that shriveled and all but died near the end of last season.
    "I'm an optimistic guy," Cowher said.

    But reality might derail that optimism if the pass defense doesn't start to show the necessary improvement when Steelers training camp opens July 25 at St. Vincent College, near Latrobe.    ...
