Yep. We would have been able to move the ball on the ground against Georgia. Obviously for the Irish to be competitive we will need the defense to play well and solid games from Riddick/Wood. But I cant shake the feeling that Golson is going to have to win this for the Irish, and while Bama's defense isn't what it has been in recent years, it's still a great and immensely talented defense.Originally Posted by DraftBoy

I've gotta say I don't see it. Notre Dame has got a great defense, but Bama just put on a power football clinic that would have intimidated Knute Rockne. Note Dame's offense has really got to be efficient with their possessions and keep their D off the field or they will get worn down badly.

It's going to be a very tough game and honestly Im not sure they can win. Alabama is the only team in the country I would of said that about. If UGA had pulled it off I would of felt much better about this game. It was nice to see McCarron look like trash till that one throw, but that one throw also won them the game. He's the clear weak link along with a lack of any WR options outside of Cooper.

I think it will be a close and fun game to watch. No matter what people are either going to claim Notre Dame cheated or that Alabama dominated the game. The next 30 days are going to be highly entertaining as most of the media will tell you that ND has no shot and then in the final week there will be a huge push of ND support for the underdog.

The combination over the last few years of a friend/co-worker being a huge Bama fan, the level of suck that the Bills and Syracuse have achieved, and the enjoyment of watching real football being played for a change are pretty big factors in my jumping on the Tide bandwagon, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
That being said, I agree with your opinion that it should be an entertaining game, and if the Irish can in any way limit the damage from Lacy and Yeldon they certainly have a chance at pulling out a win.

Stopping Bama's running game will be a tall task but UGA really struggles v. the run and Alabama's trouble stopping UGA's backup NT in Kwame Geathers gives me hope that Louis Nix can bring some havoc. If Im ND Id come out throwing against an Alabama secondary that seems overrated outside of Milliner. Belue is a guy I'd pick on and the freshman Smith in the slot. Neither safety scares me in the least bit.
That's the difference between this Bama team and others of the past...they really don't have any playmakers/studs on the defensive side of the ball, other than maybe Williams in the middle.
No elite pass rusher...no lock-down corner...no force at safety...no dominate LBer.

How does Notre Dame usually schedule their games if they arent in a divison?
They have contracts with most of their rivals like USC, Navy, Michigan, Michigan St, and just fill in the rest based around the conf schedules of the other teams they want to play. Although, they had to cancel the Michigan contract due to being semi-ACC and they were expected to do the same with Mich St, but I don't remember ever seeing that one confirmed.
Ill disagree with two of those three. Milliner is lock down and Mosley is very dominant. Lack of pass rush and trash for safety is apparent though. Also they lack some of the depth of past Bama D's.
He's one of 50 names for Auburn, so nothing to worry about yet. I would assume Smart would coach but he'd miss some very valuable recruiting time.

Martin and Nix returning for 2013. Two big-time players for the Irish coming back.
We also added on of the top RB recruits in the country in Greg Bryant. Which should fill the void that Wood will (most likely) need.
