Saints kept a 'ledger' detailing weekly earnings

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--so...y-scandal.html

The NFL has a copy of a "ledger" that was kept detailing weekly earnings for players in the New Orleans Saints bounty system, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.

The ledger, which shows both money earned for "cart-offs" and "whacks" and deducted for "mental errors," also points to the fact that players were told on a week-by-week basis of their performance.

According to sources, the NFL showed portions of the ledger during meetings with some of those who have been investigated in the scandal.

"The players clearly knew what was going each week with the payments," a source told Yahoo! Sports. In fact, multiple sources admitted that Saints defensive players would regularly encourage teammates to put money earned from the bounty system back into the pool. It's unclear if that was to increase the potential winnings or eventually use the money for some other purpose.

Two specific entries for the 2009 season were shown during one meeting. In a game at Buffalo on Sept. 27, 2009, there were three $1,000 awards.

There was also a notation that after one game an opposing player who had been carted off was placed on injured reserve. The notation of the player on IR included an exclamation mark.

It will only go beyond worse. As you would think more than four players would be involved in the Bounty Gate thing.

And the hits just keep on coming...(no pun intended)...

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...headline_stack

None of that information was any more eye-opening -- and telling -- than a slide from January 7, 2011 that was shown before the Saints playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

"Now's the time to do our jobs, collect bounty $. No apologies. Let's go hunting," the slide reads.
Accompanying the slide: A bunch of dollar bills and a picture of "Dog the Bounty Hunter."

    1. A total of $35,000 in bounties were placed on Brett Favre prior to the 2009 NFC Championship Game, not $10,000, as had previously been believed. That included a $5,000 pledge from assistant coach Joe Vitt, who will fill in for Sean Payton while he's suspended this season. Jonathan Vilma's $10,000 bounty was reportedly confirmed by multiple sources.
    2. Evidence showed that safety Roman Harper once was due $1,000 for knocking New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs from a game. This was directly from a slide that appeared in a defensive team meeting.
    3. Former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams told investigators that he was "rolling the dice with player safety and someone could have been maimed."
    4. Williams and Vitt repeatedly said in the evidence that a bounty program existed. They provided much of the evidence. In arguing that they did not participate in a bounty program, players are essentially saying that Williams and Vitt are lying. The league also stressed to reporters that the majority of the league's evidence won't be shown to the public or the media.
