    Wide receiver's career with Oakland team lasted from 1996-2000
    SAN LEANDRO -- Former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Kenny Shedd is in the midst of an unusual career switch -- from silver and black to San Leandro blue.
    These days, Shedd, 32, is a rookie police officer, patrolling the streets of San Leandro. But it is not his first rookie season. For seven years, Shedd played in the National Football League, including four years as an Oakland Raider.

    Shedd, who grew up in Davenport, Iowa, said a mixture of speed, sure hands and desire, not size, helped him earn a football and track scholarship to University of Northern Iowa.
