I'm sure many people don't, especially because you have to itemize. But the people that DO itemize, and DO give large sums to charity to use as a tax write off would stop giving as much.

Doesn't that say more about the individual that they have to be given money back from the government in order to donate? I give every year and itemize every year, if I lose those deductions it won't change my donations. Im not sure how you quantify large sums, Im not giving a ton, but Im doing more than the Catholic Church used to try and rob me of.

and hey since I'd be a politician, I'd pocket the .1 billion in change
