When Harbaugh took over in 2011 the 49ers had 6 wins in 2010 and 8 wins in 2009.

So both of these guys took over teams that had 6 wins the season before they were hired and the year before that was basically a wash too.

Harbaugh took over the 49ers and lead them to the NFC Championship game with a QB who was considered a huge bust and hadn't had any success. He was basically on his way out the door and nobody wanted him but Harbaugh turned him around in one season with his coaching, system and play-calling. He turned him into a viable game manager that could control the offense and make plays when needed.

Chan took over and lead us to 4 wins the following season. That's even less then we had the year before he started and the worse season since 2001 when we won 3 games. The year after that we only had 6 wins. This year after his 3rd year we're on pace for around 6 wins once again.

That statement doesn't hold water at all. The 49ers had some young pieces but it took a good coach to turn them and Alex Smith around and into a winning team. Even an NFC Championship appearance team that would've went to the SB if not for their punt returner Kyle Williams fumbling twice.

Gailey took over a team that was consistently around a 7 win team and we've been even worse. His record in the division has been totally abysmal and even how bad Jauron was we were more successful overall and especially in the division.

Then you have teams like Detroit.that didn't win a game in 2008 and only 2 wins in 2009. Jim Schwartz came in and lead them to 10 wins and the playoffs in a couple years.

These are just a couple of examples and there are many more. Gailey was a failed coach before he arrived in Buffalo and he is proving why nobody else in the NFL wanted him as a HC after getting fired after two seasons his first time around. The guy just isn't any good and he is worthless.

We will even go with teams that didn't have very good QB's either. Rex Ryan took over a 4 win team with the Jets and even with a crappy rookie QB in Mark Sanchez he took them to 3 straight winning seasons and two AFC Championship games. It's not like they were stacked with talent.

It's time for the Chan Gailey and Buddy Nix excuse makers to wake up and smell the coffee. There is a reason why none of these guys after this many years in the NFL were not wanted by anybody else in the NFL for the positions they are currently in.

What's worse is what have they done as far as bringing in good players since they have good here? Most of our best players like Wood, Levitre, Byrd and Stevie Johnson were all drafted during the Jauron era. The only player that they have drafted in 3 years that have proved themselves to this point is Spiller and they still won't even give him the ball very much even though he is averaging over 7 ypc. These guys are just a total travesty waiting to happen.

partly agree. partly disagree. harbaugh got a very good defense. the bills were a bend but don't break d that needed to be ramped up and the offense was enemic. they couldn't move the ball.

rex drafted sanchez in that year...i don't think he inherited sanchez.

i agreet hat gailey and nix look less and less like the guys who can get this done. but i think they made a few strides in the right direction. but they rely on this almost pre-Free agency thinking. and that's not going to get it done. you really need a guy to be able to evaluate what his teams strengths are and change the dynamics around that. they are all looking to be pieces in a system they know. but they have enough information to know what works and what doesn't. they need to experiment with trying new things. this was what got jauron run out of town. unable to adapt. lack of trying anything different.

the winners right now know what they got and how to get the most out of it.

RGIII price was way too high for us, if the Skins paid that kind of price to move up two spots, imagine what the Bills had to give up. Still could have leapfrogged the Dolphins for Tannehill, a guy I really liked, but I bet the fan base would have exploded. Still remember the guys around here that wanted nothing to do with Tannehill, have fun facing this guy when he actually gets offensive weapons.
No one is worth moving up for this year. Just my opinion.

It's a double edged sword. I think we could easily see one of the top two QB's drop to the 10-15 range. And the difference between these guys in ranking is small enough that you can wait until the 2nd round and get just about the same quality player.

Nix isn't a savvy enough business man for this business.

I agree, this draft is balls. OL/DL heavy draft.

And yeah, the Niners were not a good team, but they had talent, most of it was already there before Harbaugh stepped foot in SF.

You really didn't say very much in such a long post. I don't give a damn about records, I am talking about PLAYERS that were on the team when a Coaching change happened. Both the 49er's & Lions had PLAYMAKERS on their teams when a Coaching change happened. The Bills had NONE.

As for Smith, his abilities fit Harbaughs offense very well. As for the Lions, how are they doing this year? As for the Jets, they signed some GOOD aging vets to short term contracts for a lot of money when Rex was hired, they are now gone & look at the Jets now.

As for Spiller, there were people on this board calling him a waste of a draft pick. Were you one of them?

If we're taking a LB I want Arthur Brown. Elam is another guy I would love to add at the Safety position, he's a junior but may be the best overall safety.

Would also love a DE, we have no depth at that position.

All depends on what Ralph Wilson wants, and I'm pretty sure he hasn't been talking.

Is the general thought process that Whaley was brought in by Nix or could it be a "Wilson" move? Just curious because the answer would obviously help determine if Whaley is safe should Nix get nixed.

I still think Gabbert could be good. I'll take heat for that but it's true.

As far as this class goes, theres guys I like but none that scream franchise QB to me.

He should be. if the Bills end up 7-9 and worse, Nix and his whole cluster**** should be kicked on the ass on their way out the door.
