And more doesn't equal worse. If you think there is widespread misreporting on the effectiveness of the response to Sandy to even have it be mentioned in the same breath as the widespread incompetence that caused the Katrina clusterfark, then let's hear what it is. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the response has been as exemplar as Katrina's was negligent.

not to mention how far the bar for journalism has fallen in general.

What sucks the most is the lack of credible/reliable information. I lucked out and got power back in 24 hours. Others here at work haven't yet. And everyone is nervous with the gas situation.

What we got going on is a major inconvenience for many and devastation for others. Yet everyone is panicking the same. The way to alleviate it is with strong and true communication backed my actions. I think Cuomo is trying to play tough guy too much bullying the utility companies and doing little in terms of action and disseminating reliable information.

It's not an assumption. The response to Katrina was as big a disaster as the hurricane itself. The response to Sandy has been fine. Do you think it's possible that the two could ever be considered comparable? Heck, FEMA could ship Alpo instead of MREs, shift operations to protect Mitt's millions in the Caymans from a neap tide, and the poster children for FEMA incompetence would still be Bush and Brownie.

i know staten islands power problem in some areas is boats and ships that washed ashore that are blocking the utility crews from restoring power. those boats need to be craned out.

from the political aspect, it sounds like obama did well preparing and handling the aftermath of the storm. fact is, in a storm this large, things are going to take a while to get fixed. its just the way things are.

I was living in downtown NOLA at the time. People had 5-6 days to get out. Only,people who suffered were the idiots who stayed at home and didn't evacuate....

Fema shouldve gotten water to downtown a day or two earlier then they did. That was the only screwup there..
