oh, katrina was still a powerful storm, but NOLA wasnt hit directly. pretend the levies didnt fail. whats the effect on NOLA? some minor flooding, some houses probably destroyed, more damaged, but likely escapes catastrophe. if that happens, katrina is largely "forgotten" if you know what i mean.
thats not the way it happened, so its moot.
BATFLIP!
oh for sure, but isnt that the norm for cat 2 and above hurricanes? significant and widespread damage with significant monetary commitment?
you cant even watch a saints game without them mentioning katrina. if the levies dont fail, its not that way, thats all im saying.

It's a dumb place to build a city. Levies or not the city in the bottom of a basin surrounded on 3 sides with water. Heck, the Indians knew not to build there. They went west and settle Baton Rouge.
Great bar scene there. However....
Remember big brother is always watching....

From now on, I am going to stick to drinking.
It' way more fun, and my head hurts less.

it was a 3 when it made landfall. it was weakening significantly. once it hit its peak intensity over the gulf, it hit cooler water and weakened significantly.
pretend the levies never failed. remember hurricane rita a few weeks later? hit in texas as a 3, weakened from a 5. you dont really hear much about that storm, do you? thats my point. and it hit with more intensity than katrina, i believe. but i could be wrong.
im not saying a cat 3 isnt something to forget, but im just saying the levies dont fail, the hurricane isnt ingrained in everyones subconscious when they talk about hurricanes.
