    If you do this, you need to make it a federal holiday as well. Cut any and all excuses from people's inability to vote.

    They are going to need alot more volunteers then to manage that. The easy answer to that is to develop secure online voting. Just like you register to vote, have people register online and cross checked against a database (use social security number or whatever to make it secure). And then voting will be instant and quick. You can still have traditional voting booths for those that don't have online access (which is few nowaways). And slowly, the masses will move toward strictly online. It would be easier, faster and avoid recounts.

    And for those that don't think it can be done securely, voter fraud could happen now as things are - it can happen at any level. Do a study and take the necessary steps to cross reference and confirm people's identity and have steps in place and SEVERE penalties if someone is caught trying to hack into or defraud the system.
