Not a chance. McConnell and the Republicans did everything they could to try and make him a one-term president but they still won't act any different

Whatchu talking about Willis?
so you're already conceding that Obamas next 4 years will be a failure. but already making it out to be the Republicans fault. hiiiilarious.

I actually think that they will...
On top of losing the Presidential election, the Republicans have gotten hammered in most of the senate races that were projected as tossups... Hell, I can't think of ONE senate seat that was a tossup that the Republican won.
If they continue the obstruction, they might be lose even more seats in the Senate (and House) in the next 4 years.
They will at least have to give the illusion that they are trying to work with Obama, which will lead to at least some compromise, IMO.
-Bill
do you think Obama will try and work with the Republicans?
he wants to raise taxes on the rich which is a position the Republicans feel will damage the economy. They're probably wrong, but here's the thing...raising taxes on the rich won't even phase the deficit or the debt. So the Republicans aren't budging on something that wouldn't really solve any problems, while Obama wouldn't budge on the cuts and reform that are needed to actually impact the deficit and the debt. It's like you have 16 slices in a pie and Obama refuses to discuss the other 15 slices of the pie if the Republicans don't give in on their one slice. Again, I think raising taxes on the rich is fine, but I think it shouldn't stop Obama from making the kind of cuts that need to be made.
It's a two way street either way bud.

you're trying to make it like they got demolished on a night where Romney is probably going to get more total votes than Obama. The country is polarized in a dead heat; it worked Obama's way in the electoral count, sure, but this country is split 50/50 like never before.
Colorado votes to legalize marijuana and the Governor has a statement:

oh i see it's about racism then. It couldn't possibly be that half of the country is made up of fiscal conservatives who are deeply concerned about the nation's debt. no, they didn't vote for Romney because they're in the KKK. i see
And of course NONE of the people voting for Obama are doing so for the wrong reasons, right? It's not like any of the 99% of blacks who voted for Obama did so because...he's black. And I'm sure nobody voted for OBama because they think they'll it'll be easier to game the government out of free stuff and get away with not working.
your post wasn't the best bud.
i'll say it again, TWO WAY STREET

I think you will see some meeting in the middle.
They have to.
If losing every swing state isn't a wake-up call, I don't know what is.

Marc, overall a good post, but I don't think 56,000,000 who voted are all united by fiscal conservatives. There were many who turned out to vote for Romney because they hate Obama's stance on abortion, some voted for Romney because they bought into the Obama is a Socialist Meme, others probably were brought into the fold for Romney because they were doing what Rush Limbaugh said and using this election as a referendum against Obama (mainly people very unhappy about the jobless situation and the inability of Obama to fulfill his campaign promises from 2008), and some indeed who are fiscal conservatives. However, I have to believe that a small percentage (probably in the 5-10% range) of those who voted for Romney did so because they did not like the fact that a negro was in the Whitehouse.

Raising the taxes on the rich won't raise enough to dent the fed def. there really has to be less spending. I wonder how this whole state set up healthcare exchanges are gonna work out? I wonder how pissed the marginally unpoor and healthy are gonna feel when they start shelling out for healthinsurance... "But I thought it was free!!!" It will be entertaining when the CBO ups the cost estimated of the ACA every year starting in January
5% is fair; but 5% of people voted for Obama just because he's black as well. and for every nut who voted for Romney because of abortion there's a lazy bastard who voted for Obama because he thinks there's a better chance of getting free stuff.
So obviously there are people voting for the wrong reasons on both sides..i was responding to a poster that was only seeing one side of it.
Predicted Bills Record 7-9
Actual Bills Record 6-10
Prognostication Record 11-5
Hurray for mediocrity!
Yes, they did get demolished...a shellacking (sp?). Obama won the electoral (likely won Florida also) and also won the popular vote. And all around democrats won, strengthening the Senate and gaining in the House.
If McConnell and/or Boehner refuse to work w/Obama, they might face even harder times once 2014 rolls by. Obama has nothing to lose. Republicans have a great deal to lose!!! And the people have spoken. They want 4 more yrs of Obama and what he's bringing!!!
