Papa John's Obamacare Costs Are Far Less Than Price Of Free Pizza Giveaway

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/calebmel...bamacare-math/

News flash to Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter: Obamacare isn’t the only thing costing your business money.

The pizza chain head has made his views on the Affordable Care Act clear in recent months, claiming the new health care law will cost his business about $5 to $8 million per year. To compensate Schnatter's said he will likely raise pizza prices and cut back some workers’ hours so he doesn’t have to insure them.

Caleb Melby of Forbes has graciously done the math on Obamacare’s cost to Papa John’s and according to his analysis, to cover the cost of Obamacare, the pizza chain would have to raise prices by 3.4 to 4.6 cents per pie -- way less than the 11 to 14 cents Schnatter claims he needs.

And there are other changes the chain could make to save some money, Melby notes, like not giving away 2 million pizzas for free at a cost of between $24 and $32 million to the company, for example.

    (Read Melby's full analysis here)

We're guessing Obamacare won't impact life at Schnatter's lavish home, a 40,000 square-foot mansion in a tony suburb of Louisville, Kentucky, that features several swimming pools, a private golf course and a 22-car garage among other amenities, according to CelebrityNetworth.com.

yeah, or the fact that this guy is gutting hourly employees and driving up the price of his product while whining that obamacare will be the undoing of his company, when itll hardly make a dent. this whole thread was under the premise of doom and gloom for the economy, but the numbers and statistics continue to show that the doom and gloom is a fabrication.

i just dont get why some people continue to use the same talking points when theyve been debunked and PROVEN incorrect. i hate to paint all republicans the same, but at some point the question kinda answers itself: are all republicans really THIS stupid?

Not stupid. Government redefined full time as 30 hours. Government passed a law saying full timers get bennies or business gets taxed. Businesses said fine we only hire part timers so fu.

Nothing personal just business. Don't like it? Don't shop there. I have no problem with people protesting with their wallets. Either case stop whining. You guys voted this idiot in now deal with repercussions...

Stop whining??? You're the one that started this thread by whining about something that has been going on for over a decade and trying to attribute that as Obamacare's fault...

How about you take your own advice?

Wasn't whining just pointing something I heard. Ten years? This was the first I heard of it and I am deeply invested in stocks so I read up on them daily....

First four years you all blamed Bush, now the blame is on the companies...

    Who is deflecting?

Bush never got the blame for companies dropping hours for their own employees...stop making things up to try and justify your erroneous and irrational need to vilify Obamacare...

When I worked at Wegmans in the late 90's, I saw this happening first hand. People would get 40 hour weeks for 4 or 5 weeks in a row, then a 32 hour week just to make sure they weren't averaging over 40 and could still be counted as part-time. That being said, Wegmans did have prescription benefits and other benefits for part-time employees, but they would definitely shave hours to keep people from becoming part time. That's one way they keep their prices below the unionized stores like Giant and Safeway.

Anyway, I digress... the point is that just because it didn't show up in some stock report doesn't mean it didn't happen. I saw it happen first hand, and numerous others on this board told similar first-hand accounts at different companies the last time this topic came up.

Another company to add to your boycott list...

Denny's to charge 5% 'Obamacare surcharge' and cut employee hours to deal with cost of legislation..

Florida based restaurant boss John Metz, who runs approximately 40 Denny's and owns the Hurricane Grill & Wings franchise has decided to offset that by adding a five percent surcharge to customers' bills and will reduce his employees' hours.
With Obamacare due to be fully implemented in January 2014, Metz has justified his move by claiming it is 'the only alternative. I've got to pass on the cost to the customer.'
