The Official SEC On The Outside Looking In Thread

May not have a team in the BCS title game. 2 of the 3 top undefeated teams need to lose at the end.

The bandwagon has a broken wheel.

Going to be interesting, especially if all three win out.

Re: The Official SEC On The Outside Looking In Thread

If all three win out they will likely be left out, however if one loses (like K-State) and another struggles (say ND) don't for a minute think the human element (Coaches Poll) won't bump them up quickly effecting the BCS formula.

Just guessing but K-State looks to have the easiest path. They should beat Texas at home.

Oregon has 2 toughies in Stanford & Oregon St. ND has USC in LA. Georgia will be #4 and Alabama #5 when the new BCS poll comes out today but that's moot. They'll be playing each other in the SEC championship game.

    They still need help.

Don't overlook Texas quite yet, they haven't faced an offense like K-State yet, but they've been playing well since Baylor. Allowed Texas Tech only 22 points two weeks ago.

I'm not so sure that Alabama will drop below Georgia. They were rolled by S.Carolina, and their schedule has been weaker than 'Bama's.

If the 3 stay unbeaten I think ND is on the outside.

Alabama doesn't have the remaining schedule to jump if the top three win out. They have the mighty Western Carolina and a terrible Auburn team and a game vs Georgia so I can't see them jumping an unbeaten team.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Even as a Notre Dame die hard, I have to admit that the last two wins weren't impressive in terms of the BCS formula. That being said, there is always a chance that ND gets in for money reasons, but I don't want that. It's fuel for the haters and I don't want this team to get something they didn't earn because of money and reputation.

Of course, I'm still enjoying the ride despite all that. An undefeated season would be great regardless of what happens with the BCS.

If Notre Dame gets left out and curbstomps their BCS bowl opponent while UO or KSU gets a sloppy win, there's always the possibility of a split title like USC's.

If ND doesn't get in, they go to the Rose Bowl. Heck of a consolation prize.

Id rather avoid the Rose Bowl. We already face the Big 10 plenty and the idea of playing Nebraska or Wisconsin isn't exciting to me. Much rather go to the Sugar and play the SEC champ or hell even the Orange and play the ACC champ.

Yeah but you might actually win if they get matched up with the BIG-10 team. So expect the Rose Bowl.

The teams Notre Dame does not want to see right now in a bowl game are Bama, Tex A&M, or Fla. St.

It comes down to which team finishes #1 in that scenario, UO or KSU. The bowl that loses its tie-in team #1 gets first pick, and an undefeated #3 Notre Dame would unquestionably be the first at large picked. So if UO finished #1, Notre Dame goes to the Rose Bowl. If KSU is #1, Notre Dame goes to the Fiesta Bowl.
