Meanwhile, a couple of weeks ago, Cuomo was asking the Federal Government to foot the entire bill from Hurricane Sandy: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/...89U1J820121031
Anyone signing these "petitions" should think about that for a minute...Governor Andrew Cuomo said he is asking fellow Democrat, President Barack Obama, to pay 100 percent of the estimated $6 billion bill, at a time that state and local government budgets remain constrained by a weak economic recovery.
That would be a significant change from last year when the federal government covered about 75 percent of the $1.2 billion cost paid by New York to clean up after storm Irene hit the region.

I said you need to strive to better than everyone else. I didn't say you needed to be better than everyone else. But you gotta try. That's what character is. It's in the try.
What in the name of Sterling Price is Missouri doing on that list? Cripes, doesn't anyone remember what happened the last time a group of morons decided to do this?

its a small number of people who want to take their ball and go home. those petitions do not represent those states as a whole. alot of states where obama won is on that list, including michigan.
this is just some pouty bitch sore losers who came up with a few signatures and made it news. irrelevant.

I could throw any petition on the internet and if it's a high profile topic I could get thousands of signatures per state. I'm sure a lot of people would sign a petition outlawing the Republican party. Same goes for the Democratic party. In fact, if I threw out a petitition saying dog fighting should be made into a professional sport & that Michael Vick should be the commissioner I'd get some loons to sign it.
There's stupid people everywhere!!
Rick Perry Takes Stand On Texas Secession Issue
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...n_2120453.html
Texas Gov. Rick Perry does not stand behind a secession petition filed with the White House by a Lone Star State resident in the aftermath of the presidential election.
The Dallas Morning News reports that the Republican governor's press secretary, Catherine Frazier, said in an email that Perry "believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it." She added, "But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government. Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas, that are making tough decisions to live within their means, keep taxes low and provide opportunities to job creators so their citizens can provide for their families and prosper."

these aren't real petitions...
They're using something Obama set up as an election gimmick "oh look, i care about everyone's needs, here's my suggestion box", which is exactly what it is. A suggestion box. There is nothing legally binding about it~ Obama isn't even required to personally review the petition, someone in his staff will look at it and throw it in a dumpster. The press secretary will say "we reviewed it, see their concerns but at this time we see no need to do anything about it" and the issue will be buried.
That a reporter is even writing about this silliness is embarrassing for the profession.

alot of republicans who are not morons are saying "stop with the secession talk."
"Re-electing Obama is going to ruin America!"
Yeah, yeah, Democrats said the same thing when Bush was elected and then re-elected, and Republicans said the same thing when Clinton was elected and re-elected, and I was too young to really remember, but I'm guessing Democrats said the same thing about Bush I and Reagan and Republicans said the same thing about Carter.
It's all an overreaction and it's all a load of crap.
There will be no seceding out of what's coming next for this country.
