Schedule accordingly. Might want to deep fry the turkey in the driveway between storms.
Bookend Nor'easters?
Use caution, however.

Tall flame 6 feet from the house. That looks safe.
Tree looks well cooked.

funny you mention this Patti. My oven is not working and am thinking I might still do thanksgiving at home. Deep fried turkey might be the best option....
We actually have done them. First, not too close to the house. We do it in the driveway a bit closer to the street. Free entertainment for the neighbors! (When we did it I also did a traditional turkey in the oven for the whole stuffing etc. aspect, so we had two turkeys) Anyway, they cook a LOT faster than a regular turkey. I want to say ours was done in 45 minutes. Also make sure it's thawed and dried off some before you lower it in. If you drop it in as a ball of ice you will get a spectacular and somewhat dangerous effect of roiling, spitting oil. (not as exciting as the flame picture, but more excitment than we wanted for our first fried turkey) Subsequent fried turkeys have gone just fine.
The taste is great -- really moist!

we started injecting Franks Red Hot into the meat of our turkeys before we fry them, and then we cook them a little longer so they're extra crispy... comes out great, especially if you get a piece from where you put the franks

the day I got kicked out of the stadium and wrecked my car I deep fried a turkey at the tailgate. I still have a piece of BillsFever's jogging pants stuck to the burner![]()
everyone knows you deep fry a turkey inside, in a carpeted room. those are the rules.
