Not here to be right, just here to have interesting discussions about my impulsive opinions

I never heard a whistle until well after the ball came out, Byrd had possession and was down. Should've at least been reviewed.
Sorry, but the regular refs aren't any better than the replacements.

This is what a replay would have shown. I turned it off after that. I just knew how it would end up...we've all seen it happen time and time again:

Lovely that they never showed that angle on the broadcast.
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.
The NFL wants their star rookie quarterback and the Colts' cancer stricken coach to win. What else would be you expect from a bunch of fraudulent scumbags.
He was ruled down by forward progress being stopped. The pic above is well after his forward progress was stopped. So even a challenge wouldn't have done anything in the situation.

At the very least, it is inexcusable that there was no review of that play.

He was moving forward. No review was done.
Unfortunately, if Gailey throws a flag, I think he get's tagged with a penalty. Not that it would have mattered. All that would have done was move the ball forward a foot and negate any chance of a replay. But they never did one anyway, so what's the difference? The refs screwed the pooch on this one. The replay official must have been wiping mustard from his shirt.

A play is over when it's determined that his forward progress has stopped. That's what was called, and that is not reviewable. The whistle has nothing to do with it.

Which, of course, they didn't do. Blown call.
No big deal in the big picture. As usual, the only side complaining about officiating after the game are the losers. Calls generally even out...unless the Cheatriots are one of the teams. ;-)
In the end, one field goal should not have made a difference. If the Bills had a decent quarterback and a competent coach, they would have won the game regardless.
They don't. So that's why we talk about these calls every week.
They didn't huddle up afterwards because they didn't have to. The ref closest to the play ruled that his progress had stopped. None of the other refs disagreed, so that was the ruling.
But yes, I agree that the Bills are in such a sad state that this is what we are left to talk about week in and week out...it's pathetic.
