I don't see the need for auto-bids, except that the money gets spread evenly.

But that wouldn't be my intent with a playoff scheme. It would be to have the best 8 teams in it.

I think you can make an argument that it is more like the NFL, with each div. leader getting in the playoffs, but in the NFL, half of their games are outside the division.

In college, with many of the teams, you have 1 or 2 warm up games and then the conference schedule.

A team from a weak conference can play its two warm up games, go through an easy conference schedule and then end up at the dance.

If it were me, I'd push for more interconference games during the season.

I would argue those are the best 8 teams, maybe a case for A&M over one of them, but otherwise who the hell is missing, and don't give me any of that South Carolina crap.

2. Alabama v. 7. Oregon
3. Kansas State v. 6. Florida
4. Stanford v. 5. Louisville
