When he has had talent, he has been successful. He won with Rich Gannon. If he gets a QB at his next stop, he will win again.
Well, actually the year after Gruden was hired in Tampa, Rich McKay was fired & Gruden's old friend Bruce Allen, son of George Allen, was hired. Gruden was very much responsible for the make up of the team while he was with the Bucs.

It's a waste of time even considering coaches like Gruden. But, the thing I like best about him is how he deals with QB's.

RW's age and health could hurt in the hiring of a quality guy/staff.

RW's age and health would partially be a moot point if the team had a stadium lease.

Mike Sherman would jump at the job.

            1) Older guy. Will not be picky for his last chance at a gig.
            2) Has run an organization before
            3) Can develop QB's
            4) Would take away from Miami and the development of Tannehill
            5) Sherman should have been snagged when Marv hired Jauron, btw.

almost too old school, good as long as you win (don't misunderstand I don't mind this but the reality is dealing with today's pampered pro athletes isn't easy)
needs the right QB because he is QB obsessed and drives them super hard, again that works with the right guy

I would get him in here the day after the season ends and tell him "look, we're going to draft a QB in the 1st round and we want you to pick him". I realize there's no guarantee his guy will be there when we pick but IMO it's essential the QB be Gruden's guy and he is probably more qualified to know QB talent that anyone anyway. This is the best possible fit for the Bills- Gruden as HC and a young stud to be developed by Gruden under center. In fact I wouldn't wait. Start talking to him now and have a deal in place. No sense firing Gailey now but he's a dead man walking. Gruden would laugh his ass off if you told him he would be working wth Fitz. But I really don't think that's a problem, even Ralph can see that situation can't continue either.

If we had a real owner I would actually be pretty optimistic we could pull this off. But the stench of OBD is strong so i'm probably just dreaming.
I would love Gruden here, it'd be refreshing to see our coach lose his s*** when we do something stupid, instead of gawking at it like the emotionless Gailey. Grudens a winner bring him in....I wish

Don't know about a head coach, but I do know who I'd want as my DC....Kirby Smart, Alabama.

It would be criminal negligence not to even have him on my short list of interviewees.

Re: For what it's worth, my choice for Bills next coach

Thanks all for your replies, some thoughtful and some funny stuff posted. I don't blame anyone for thinking getting Jon Gruden is a pipe dream, I said it probably was in the first post. For those that slammed him, my take is you don't know football or you haven't been paing attention to Bills football for the past decade plus. IMO hiring Gruden would be almost as big an upgrade for the Bills as when the Patriots hired Bill Parcells after firing Dick MacPherson, and they said that would never happen there. Of course the Pats were even worse than the Bills there and owned the 1st pick in the draft. That probably was a big factor in Parcells going to NE as he drafted Drew Bledsoe with that 1st pick. Winning yesterday dims our chances of getting a top QB and therefore dims our chances of getting Gruden, have to agree with Ginger on that, nice posting BTW Ginger.

Gruden will not go from cushy ESPN MNF booth to Buffalo Bills @ Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Well he would if the Bills were willing to pay and they had an Andrew Luck type QB in the fold.

Bills should hire Bobby April to be the next head coach.
