Long you live and high you fly And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry And all you touch and all you see Is all your life will ever be.
this may excusable in war, but this is peacetime and if a kidney (provided by the guy's own mother no less, read the damn article, his mom gave him the kidney) can save a life then why not? Why should someone get better treatment just because they can write a bigger check? Why is medical care profit driven? Perhaps it explains why medical care in Europe is by and large far superior to our own.
Oh for the love of Christ if you can't make your argument without committing a fallacy you have to honestly ask yourself if you have an argument. That's why I told you in the other thread you're asking the wrong questions and arguing the wrong points.
This is the same situation as the Abortion discussion, it never has been and never will be about when life starts. That's the stupidest and most intellectually dishonest position one could ever take on a policy issue.
Same principle applies here.
COMING SOON...

The conservative "intelligentsia" here are pretty weak. Tearing apart their threads and posts is like shooting fish in a barrel.
Loyola performs free kidney transplant for illegal immigrant
Jorge Mariscal, a 24-year-old graphic design student, received a kidney transplant he waited eight long years for courtesy of Chicago’s Loyola University Medial Center this past Thursday. But, you see, Mariscal is an illegal immigrant who came to the U.S. from Mexico when he was a year old.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Mariscal considered heading back to Mexico for the transplant since “doctors said he wouldn't be able to receive a kidney transplant in the U.S. because he is undocumented.” However, Loyola agreed to pay for the surgery, and Mariscol will have to come up with the approximately $10,000 a year cost for the medications he will need to be on for the rest of his life.
Quite a difficult feat for one without medical insurance.
Gailey's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

I agree with the life saving surgery from Mom's own supply of kidneys... Is this really that big a deal?
As to Medical care being better in Europe... Link it homie and make sure like isn't about "healthcare"... Actual advanced medical techniques and availability of those techniques please.
As to profit driven... That is where advancement comes from. Rapid Arc radiation therapy is fantastic (not on the planning side) and it wouldn't even be available to cancer patients had there been nothing for Elekta (Varian) to gain by doing all the R&D to develpoe such a practice.
There would be no robotic surgery had the company that makes the Davinci equipment not profited from it's developement.
Pretty sure the stem cell research teams know there is an end game cash award for developing a breakthrough... It would be nice if all was done do to pure godliness.
That's crap.
The profits don't go into research, they go into advertising. ("When the time is right..")
The research comes from the government.
