It's not worth my time because all we were doing was comparing speculations.
I'm no legal scholar, but I think if it were antiquated it wouldn't hold up to legal challenges. But it has, at the highest levels of our judicial branch. I doubt the 3rd amendment would survive such a challenge, for instance.
Call it a cop out, but we wouldn't be talking about otherwise.
This argument that the people need guns to protect themselves from tyranny hasn't exactly held up over the years. Take a second and think about an oppressed minority arming themselves to defend against the government.
Oops. They've tried that, and people renounced them as terrorists. And they were, because people who take up arms against their government are "terrorists."*
* Unless they win.

Don't start changing what is being said. An argument was put forth expressing the 2nd amendment as being able to defend yourself against a tyrannical gov't. What followed was explanation about how ludicrous that concept is in today's world. If you have other reasons for believing what the 2nd amendment stands for, that has nothing to do with answering the postulation that was made.

C'mon man, it wouldn't hold up to legal challenges because people are fanatical about their guns. There would be a massive uproar if someone tried to take them.
How many people do you honestly think are armed to the teeth because they're afraid of the government? Most of those people shouldn't even have guns anyway.
Just look at all the other modern countries in the world.
Why is it that you think you NEED to be armed? There's no other first World country that is so heavily armed and they seem to be doing just fine. Most of them have less than 1% of the gun deaths too and they rarely, if ever, have any mass shootings.
Do you think there's a correlation?

Yet the coroner reported that all of the fatalities were from rifle shots.
