I like that his offense is similar to the one we run. The learning curve is smaller for the players that will be back. I like that Spiller will get to stay in a spread where he's really best.

What he would need to do is win the players over and to get the buy in to change their losing minds into believing they can win.

I think he should be partnered with a strong DC who will run a 4-3 set similar to what we have. Again, that let's us win quicker by keeping much of the same talent and also keeps the learning curve shorter.

Miami did a similar thing. They don't really teach fundamentals when they practice, do it when they watch tape. Practice is just that, practice as many plays and drills as you can.

I like Kelly not only because is he innovated, but what he has done without top college talent. Between the Browns, Eagles and Bills, I really think the Bills look like the best option, but Mike Lombardi, reportedly a candidate to replace former Browns GM Tom Heckert, has ties to Kelly. It's up to Brandon to really sell the team to Kelly and convince him that the Bills are his best option.

Depends on who he brings with him for his staff. This hire has crash and burn back to the college ranks written all over it.

The pro game needs to evolve, offensively.

QB's standing in the pocket with a bulleye on their chest are getting wiped out at warp speed by these incredible hybrid DE/OLB types. Only Brady/Manning/Rodgers and a couple others are able to make quick reads and barely beat the rush. The rest watch their QB get scraped off the turf and see their season flushed down the drain. Way too dependent on 1 guy.

The read option/motion offense Kelly runs bring speed from many different skill players in all directions. It's mostly a run offense that creates it's own holes away from the middle of the line. It also allows the deep ball to be hit a few times each game. That neutralizes the athletic Defenses and puts them back on their heels, instead of vice versa.

Just stating " it won't work " is horse and buggy talk. It has to be tried. Too much is currently tied up in 1 expensive QB, who if hurt means the entire teams fortunes sink with him. Owners are now realizing this and the Kellys of the world are being watched closely.

College football is not all "gimmickry " ..Monte Burns..

You might be the only person in the country who thinks that the pro game is getting tougher for pocket passers.

Kelly's read option offense works on college Ds who have extremely limited time to prepare and condition, and whom he will usually only face once a season. Those same athletic DE/OLB types are exactly who make an uptempo option offense an extreme gamble.
