As a Giants fan I'm still pissed at Sabs for trading Wheeler. ****ing joke of a trade, I used to watch the kid play while he played in San Jose all the time.
BTW, Wheeler is topping out at 98 today.
Wheeler is getting rave reviews from everyone right now and is being compared to Strasburg. Alderson must have had some serious dirt on Sabean to make that deal. LOL
We're really going to suck this year in a very tough division but at least we have some young guys to look forward to. Harvey looked good last year and Wheeler looks like the real deal as of now. We got a steal out of that trade for 1/2 season of Carlos Beltran.
I'm still mad and can't believe they never got any compensation out of Reyes. We could've received another young piece by trading him to a contender at the end of the 2011 season. Hopefully one of the guys we got for Dickey ends up as a reliable starter for us.
Whatchu talking about Willis?
Matt Harvey definitely isn't having a sophomore slump to start the year. This kid is the real deal.
Alderson did a good job to get Wheeler for Beltran who we weren't keeping after that season no matter what. It's not like Wheeler broke out on the scene after the trade. He was already one of the top pitching prospects when we made the trade.
The Giants were alright with making the trade since they already had a great young pitching staff at the major league level along with other good pitching prospects at the minor league level. Wheeler was also young and at least a couple years away from making it to the major league level. They just came off a WS victory and they needed somebody in the middle of the lineup that could give them some pop at the plate to try and make a run for a repeat championship. Luckily Beltran played well and stayed healthy that season going into the trading deadline or we would've never gotten a prospect like Wheeler.
I still can't believe they didn't trade Reyes when they knew we weren't keeping him. There is no doubt in my mind we could've gotten another top pitching or OF prospect for him. Especially at least an outfield prospect even if it was for only 1/2 of the season. Some contender or another team that could've signed him long-term before the trade would've given up one. He really dropped the ball on that one. We had the most electric SS talent in MLB and Alderson just let him walk for nothing. We didn't even get a 1st round pick out of it since the Marlins signed him and they were drafting in the top half of the MLB draft. All we got was a lousy 2nd round pick for him.

John Buck has been knocking the cover off the ball to start this season. He has another HR tonight which was a grand slam.
History shows he most likely won't end the season with a .300 batting average but if he plays the entire year he will be good for 20 home runs. He's been around a 15-20 HR guy most of his career. Most likely Travis D'arnaud will be called up at some point this season after June.
Buck is older so we can't rely on him for the long-term but if he can mentor D'arnaud and the pitchers along with being a good platoon player for the next couple years I'll be fine with that. Hopefully he can stay hot this season and we might be able to trade him to a contender looking for a catcher or a DH hitter at the trading deadline and get a one or two 2nd level prospects for him and let the D'arnaud era start from there.
We've been rained out two games in a row and I hope to god they move up Niese's and Harvey's starts so they can stay on their 5 day schedule. There is no sense in knocking them guys off their schedule to give the rest of these bums their starts.

When are the Mets going to play again?
Two days in a row, they've been snowed out. Scheduled for a double-header today, but again rain/snow in the forecast.
If we wait long enough to play again, we won't have to suffer through Gee, Hefner, and Laffey! We can just go right back to Niese and Harvey. LOL
Wow we actually won a game with a pitcher outside of the name Niese and especially Harvey starting. If the rest of our rotation gave us some quality starts we would be off to a good start this season. This could be like last year where we win around 75 games and one pitcher has 20 of the wins and we win 1/3 of our games when he started. That's the way it was with Dickey last year.
At least we took 2 out of 3 from the Nats after that debacle in Colorado when we gave up an 8-0 lead and lost all three of the games. Harvey was lights out once again against Strasburg and is tearing it up. Of course he won't keep this up all year but he will easily be a 15 game winner this year. The kid looks like he's going to be a star.
Hopefully Wheeler is ready in a few months and we can bring him up. If he succeeds then we have a decent 3 man rotation for the future and it shouldn't be too hard to find some relaible 4th and 5th starters. If all that happens and we can get some outfielders to give us production we could maybe turn it around in a couple years and be in the playoff hunt once again. At least our farm system finally has some talent again.

Marcum should be back this weekend or next week if everything goes right with his rehab. He's not that great but he is better then Jeremy Hefner. That doesn't take much though. I have my doubts he will stay healthy when he does make his first appearance by his previous track record though. We've got to have something better then Hefner and the other bums in the minors that could make some appearance you would think.
Hopefully if all goes well we will see Wheeler and D'arnaud in a couple months. I'd hate to take Buck out of the lineup though if he's still raking it like he has been to start the season. He isn't the future and D'arnaud is so it would still be a wise choice. If Buck has a good start to the season maybe we could trade him in July to a contender that needs a catcher. We couldn't get much but I'd be happy with even an average major league ready outfielder that could even platoon with some of these guys.
Harvey is on the mound tonight. Hopefully he can keep it going against the Dodgers. It should be a good game and we need his wins. We're 7-2 when Harvey and Niese starts but only 2-7 when everyone else starts. If the middle of our rotation was even average we could easily have a few more wins right now.
