    Post 2014 Goals & Tracking

A stress fracture in my foot slowed my running down over the last couple months and now I'm fighting off the "bug from hell".... but I'm overall pleased with last year and am going to continue onward.

    1. Continue to eat healthier (fruits and veggies are challenging!)
    2. Strength train (especially those little stabilizing muscles!)
    3. Run (2 HM's and a Ragnar Relay is already scheduled)

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

Doing a biggest loser contest at work. Winner gets $600. We weighed in on Friday January 3rd and wrote down the weights. Whoever loses the most % of their body weight wins it all. 3 months. Final Weigh in is April 3rd.

I'm down 7 lbs in 6 days already, which is a rapid pace and I know it'll get tougher when I get past 10 lbs, and I need to pace myself. Just eating a ton different with a little exercise. Cutting out the fast food and sweets really. I'll cheat once and a while of course.

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

My New Years Resolution or Challenge was to do 100 push ups a day. I've been doing 5 sets of 20.

My goal is 26,000 pushups this year. :)
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

    1500 miles.

    More than last year.
Draft a franchise QB that X-Era would be proud to put in his user name for the next 13 years.

I'm down 17 pounds since January 3rd. All just eating better really. Mainly, breakfast and lunch. A little bit of exercise, as I'm limited to a treadmill basically since the weather is freezing. Cut out pop/ice tea and all sugar except natural from the fruits I eat. Certainly still have cheat meals like pizza and wings last weekend but, the bulk of it is much better.

Sad part, is in the contest that's only good enough for 4th place so far! I'm at just over 8% of my body weight lost.

Maybe "sad" in regards to the contest... but FANTASTIC in every other aspect! Keep up the great progress! :)

I've lost 11.22% of my body weight since January 3rd, which is down 24 pounds. Good for 2nd out of 10 now in our work competition, and the leader is at 11.29%. I'm getting closer....$600 on the line, and we have exactly 4 more weeks to the day before the final weigh in.

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

I'm pretty sure I'm going to win my 3 month long biggest loser contest. It ends Thursday morning. I've lost 15.8% of my body weight since January 3rd, which makes me down 34 pounds. The 2nd place guy needs to lost 3 pounds by Thursday morning, which is very unlikely!

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

    Congrats UJ!

I am finally back to being able to do all my workout stuff after hurting my back in January. I did work on my back last night with weights with no real soreness, except for it being a little tired this AM. I am still well behind where I was (such as not being able to do 4 reps of 12 pull ups and only being able to do 2 reps of 7), but the strength should come back

Now I need to get my stamina and endurance back to where it was. That might take some time. My HM at the end of April probably won't be my best time. But I think I can do it. I will decide after that if I want to run another one the week after.

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

I lost. I finished down 35 pounds, at 15.89%. The guy behind me lost 3.5 pounds last night going crazy hard he said. He lost 40 pounds and won with 16.33%. The scale couldn't decide on 180 or 179 lbs for me, and ended up stopping on 180. Had it been 179, I would have actually won.

    Quite shocking and depressing..

You still pretty damn well - that is a pretty damn good loss of weight.

You are still the biggest loser in my book.

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

The last two weekends I have ran 10 and 11 miles. My pace is over a minute off from before my back injury and lack of conditioning, but next Sunday I will be running a half marathon in Rochester.

The hard part will be that I will only get about 4 hours of sleep the night before because I am taking my mom to the Bandits game the night before (a delayed Birthday present because she was sick the day I was supposed to take her to a Sabres game), but regardless I will do it.

I hope by then my pacing is better. The second half of the race is challenging and full of hills.

The week after that I will probably run a HM in Grand Island.

And the conditioning is not the only thing - I lost a lot of core strength when I could not work out. While I have been working out for awhile now, that part is coming back slowly. When they say core strength helps, it really does. I had already seen that when I started to run and can really feel it now.

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

I did the HM last weekend.

My time was 1:55. usually I am about 1:45, but considering I only got two weeks in of real conditioning for this, I was happy with my time (and the fact that I got about 3.5 hours of sleep the night before). The week before I was on a pace for over 2:00 (just over 11 miles in 1:45), so I cut down on that.

Tomorrow I run in Grand Island. A much easier course than last week. My goal is to get down to 1:50. If I don't stay out too late tonight I should be able to do it. Getting back to 1:45 is unlikely, but sure would be nice.

And hopefully it is not raining tomorrow AM........

    Whew!

Completed a 5K & 10K on Saturday and a HM on Sunday (in Cincinnati). I had forgotten how HILLY this place is. My hammy's are STILL mad at me!

Uncle Jesse, that's an AWESOME achievement! Be very proud of yourself! Are you now in "maintenance" or do you have more that you want to lose?

    Re: 2014 Goals & Tracking

So I was reading this thread seeing how I lost 35 pounds back in 2014. I've probably put 10-15 of that back on. Started a new diet and better exercise this week to try and shed 10 pounds back off. Can't believe I did that long over 3 months. Don't know if I could do it now.
