It sucks that he is retiring. He's been one of the constants in Sabres nation for what seems like a lifetime.
A guy from elsewhere who became a true Buffalo guy. (A compliment of the highest order).

I always liked Robie. He is a Buffalo-kind of guy, going to be hard to replace his personality.

Agreed.
I have a feeling that Brad May will replace Robie in that role next season-and in due time, he might become as beloved as Mike is.

A staple of Buffalo Sabres broadcasts for more than three decades, Mike Robitaille today announced that he will retire following the 2013-14 season. With the retirement of Robitaille, former Sabres winger Brad May has been added to the Sabres broadcast team beginning this season as an analyst and commentator. May will join the broadcast for approximately 25 games this season for pregame, intermission and postgame analysis before joining the broadcast team in a full-time capacity next season.
May, also a former Sabres player, will begin his duties with the Sabres broadcast team this season, joining the team for approximately 25 road games and some home games. He comes to the Sabres from Rogers Sportsnet in Toronto, where he has served as a hockey analyst for the past three years. May will continue to work for Sportsnet this season.

Will miss Robataille. Miss Darling. Really miss Jim Lorentz.

May is OK, but Rob Ray is great as a color guy. HE is the next Roby type guy, great personality.

My favorite Robitaille one-liner...
"That guy has to sneak up on a glass of water to get a drink."
I'm pretty sure it was about a Bruin and as I recall, it was Bruce Shoebottom. But it was probably someone else. It was probably 20+ years ago certainly. Heck, I can barely remember what I had for breakfast.
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.
Then put him in Robie's place. Trust me, Rayzor has more than a few detractors when it comes to the analyst position.
Also see if Marty Biron's available to join the broadcast team. The only weakness is wondering if his broadcast teammate will be able to get a word in edgewise.

The Buffalo Sabres today announced that Rick Jeanneret, hockey’s longest-tenured broadcaster, has signed a new, three-year contract with the team to remain its primary play-by-play voice. The Sabres Hall-of-Famer will call an increasingly reduced number of games during the next three seasons before stepping away from the microphone for good. Veteran broadcaster Dan Dunleavy has been added to the Sabres broadcast team and will serve as Jeanneret’s substitute before assuming the primary play-by-play duties for the 2016-17 season.

That's also on the quiz under "stuff we already knew".
