Is Spiller going to be the next Byrd?

    http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bill...ch-out-to-byrd

I don't understand why he is worried about any of this because he is signed until the end of the 2015 season. Leaves me wondering how much he wants to be here considering he is considering taking advice from Byrd.

Dareus will be gone before Spiller.

    Spiller is nothing special.

I think they're both overrated. I've seen flashes but yet to see continuous great play. At least Dareus can stay healthy. I think this should be a real break out year for him.

seemed fairly harmless. he was asked about it and he answered it.

that being said, he needs a good year and hopefully the bills brass is about getting him a good line. Also, if the line really excels at run blocking, you don't want to over pay for a plug and play position if the line is good enough.

Spills is special, but he also plays the position that a) has the shortest shelf life in the NFL and b) is the easiest to replace in the NFL.

To me, this wreaks of a power play. He knows Jackson's time is nearly up and he knows the team has cap room so he's trying to get paid while he can. He's trying to scare them into thinking they'll have no RB's in 2 years. I doubt the team bites. There is plenty ikf time to fix that problem before Spiller's contract expires.

Re: Is Spiller going to be the next Byrd?

If he has a big year, he'll get paid well. If he is hampered by injuries and struggles to get going he's going to have a problem.

I think seeing what happened to CJ2K and other backs is a bit of a shell shock to him.

The agent he hires will be something to watch, if its Parker we could have problems.

Again people are so quick to run our good players out of town.

    Losing Dareus would be huge.

Spiller hasn't done much to warrent a big contract.

Dareus' option should be exercised, sooner rather than later. If Spiller hires Parker, put him on the market ASAP.

His production can easily be replaced. Is he dynamic? He was supposed to be but he hasn't been one for the bills. Not saying he won't end up being dynamic elsewhere like Lynch , but all I care is what they do here.

He hit incentives in his contract that makes him a FA after this year

If I'm Spiller I without a doubt sign with Parker. Guy just got done smoking the Bills in a negotiation

Spiller got benched quite quickly last season & wasn't drafted by our new coaches so I think he's added in to help move us up the draft board.

This may explain why the Bills interest in drafting a RB.

This is the Bills. They will trade him for a 4th round pick. Yay.

Re: Is Spiller going to be the next Byrd?

Spiller doesn't have the leverage that Byrd had. So there's nothing really to worry about there. And really, there is no reason not to resign the guy. He can still bust a TD out of nowhere and his position doesn't command any money. I mean MJD and CJ2K are getting paid 3.5-4mil a year. There's no way Spiller can realistically expect to make MORE than that. At 4 million a season it would be really silly not to keep him, becuase at that salary if he does well it is great return on investment and if he sucks or gets hurt, 4 million isn't a big deal. Seems like a non-issue to me, because there is no reason to let him walk.
