    Byrd having surgery

New Orleans Saints safety Jairus Byrd was a notable absence from the third day of organized team activities.
Byrd, who had back surgery Thursday, and was not at practice, the first all-team session open to the media this offseason. Saints coach Sean Payton said he expected him to be back by training camp.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Well they're calling it minor and he's not going to miss any games, so it's not exactly significant. They said if it were the regular season right now, he wouldn't even have had the procedure done.

Well. Good thing we didn't sign one of our best players. Dodged a bullet there!

Trying convincing Jerry Jones and Tony Romo of that.

I think he just doesnt want to go to OTA's. Kind of like camp and the foot issue last year.

The reason he would not have the surgery done during the season is because if he did, he would MISS GAMES.

                        NO back surgery is minor.

We will see how minor Romo's surgery was after he takes a couple hard hits & is planted on his back.

The point is he's only going to miss some OTA's. So it's not exactly significant news. Maybe back surgery isn't minor, but the injury itself is minor if it's something he could play with. That's what I was referring to originally.

Well, IMO the point is a BAD BACK is cause for concern for any NFL player.

                              Especially a DB or QB.

Only time will tell if their bad backs affect the play of Byrd or Romo.

It remains to be seen just how much this surgery helps Byrd or Romo.

I know a number of people that have had back surgery. It helps some people, others it does not help at all.

Some people regret having had surgery afterwards.

The back is difficult to diagnose which is why ambulance chasers send their clients to a chiropractor as soon as they are hired.
