there goes any hope they had of fixing their issues.
They were ranked dead last in attendance.

I think that is a good role for him.

Max Afinogenov is waiting by his phone.
does he want stafford?
I hope Arizona fans are ready for Bob Corkum.
Arizona owners can opt out of their lease after 5 years. I expect them to move to Seattle in 4 years honestly
Darcy is great if he's just in charge of trades.

Darcy may get ripped but he did make quite a few good trades here. None better than getting Daniel Briere and a pick that became Andrej Sekera for Chris Gratton and a pick that became Liam Reddox. So maybe Phoenix is hoping he can rekindle some of the trade magic. Heck let's not forget the last trade he made here was the Thomas Vanek for Matt Moulson and the Islanders' 1st and 2nd Round picks in 2015 is looking pretty good.
He's going to cry and love everyone, cry again, and everyone will love him until he is fired decades after everyone forgot why he was hired. He is an undead muppet and I am glad he is somewhere else. He will win no Cups, everyone will always share his pain, and he will have the best vacations with his family until he retires a wealthy weeping man of no achievement.
$50 Arizona signs Leino.
I get the jokes and the criticism. I was on the fire Regier bandwagon for a long time. To not recognize that he does have a good hockey eye and has a lot of friends/connections throughout the league is not being fair. He has some redeeming value for a team like Arizona. He did get value for guys like Gaustad. He did some good drafting. He brought Drury and Briere here. Was he great? No. Not by any stretch. He waited too long to pull the trigger many times. Many times he pulled it wrong. Plus he went full on and built a smaller, faster team after that lockout (was it two lock-outs back?) when the NHL promised to do away with clutching & grabbing. The only problem was that the NHL relaxed those rules after about one season. I would agree that this Arizona job is a good place for him to come in and try to re-prove himself the the NHL. He could turn out to be the Tom Donahoe of the NHL though.
The thing we'll never know was exactly how much did guys like Larry Quinn and Ted Black influence the decisions that he made. I don't know if Regier would have ever considered Leino if Pegula hadn't just bought the team and told him to do it.
After not resigning Briere and Drury, the biggest angering thing for me was him not re-signing JP Dumont.

16 years, he made a few good trades, big deal. Briere TURNED into a very good player, but I doubt he expected that. Remember Briere was on waivers earlier that season and could have been picked up for nothing. That Vanek trade COULD be great, but what happens if the Islanders make the playoffs this year? He will probably be ripped again for allowing the Islanders to pick whether they wanted to defer the pick or not. I never liked the guy from his very first move.
One reason Darcy was good at trades was because he never made a trade unless he was absolutely 100% sure he was getting the better end of the deal and screwing the other GM..Brian Burke was the one who claimed this to the media.. And other GMs complained Darcy was slow to return phone calls and return messages
