Great news, but this is just the beginning of a long road.

It had to do with a scan they did that looked promising, the biopsy is another hurdle.

That is alittle cart before horse. The fact they are biopsying something means something is still there... I hope it is merely necrotic residual.

Perhaps, but periodic tissue biopsies of localized cancers is common.

Not really especially during or right after radiation. Biopsies are done on suspicious lesions. Pet scans are done to look for spread.

Glad I Googled this before responding... I just saw "encouraging news" with nothing behind it. Figured a positive to his cancer treatment, but didn't know if his mortgage had been renewed, he won a radio contest, or wasn't going to get fined for smacking JBJ.

Any good news is great for Jimbo's recovery.
                  Bye Bye Brady...

Depends on the coverage plan. If you work in the public sector or retired from same, or have a plan like NFL players do and some unions do, with minimal or zero co-pay or deductible and any and all procedures are sanctioned, biopsies are $ for the med business and assuage the patient. And routine biopsies can discover problems.

Other folks often have to jump through hoops to get a PET or MRI, unless you are a member of the special classes. For most, it's begrudged high-radiation CT and you must be sure to get prior authorization and make sure the provider - even their office location - is "in-network."

Confused by this post but follow up PET scans are the norm. Especially if Jim is in WNY. Biopsies, as you say are big money but don't think for a minute they are being done to line pockets. Insurance companies would not cover something unwarranted. It's all based on CPT codes.
