As Much as We Bow to the Great Defense We Think We Have...

...the reality is that that in the past two games at home we went into the locker room at the half 24-0 and 17-0 to the Bucs and Lions.

Perhaps we are giving our D too much respect only because they look so much better than our crap O.

let's not forget that our preseason O was "vanilla."

But our opponents would never use a vanilla O in preseason, right?

We can stop the run well...we can't stop the pass worth crap.

Good QBs will pick this team apart.

The winnable games on this schedule, barring injuries, will be against teams that have garbage behind center.

There aren't many of those on the schedule.

No points were scored against the Bills while the starters were in the game against the Lions.

If we were winning these preseason games big I'd feel better but not by a lot. There isn't much correlation to preseason results and regular season results. The main bad news from yesterday was Watkins.

if the O sucks based on preseason then the D rocks based on preseason. Goes both ways

What last two games have you been watching?

Both the O and the D sucks.

How can you think our D rocks?

1st team D rocks. It was talked about yesterday on radio prior to yesterdays game how the 1st D has been tops in the league especially in stopping the run.

Not all the starters on Defense played against the Bucs & not all of those points were scored against the defense either.

Although the unit saw only two series, the number one unit forced a pair of three and outs. Several starters remained on the field during Detroit’s third drive and forced the Lions to attempt a 53-yard field goal.

So far, the Bills’ defense has been the most consistent part of the teams’ game. As a unit, the team had the third best run defense in the preseason going into this last preseason game, only Tampa Bay and Denver were ranked higher. When Thursday’s performance is taken into account, the Bills previous average of 81 allowed rushing yards per game unofficially comes down to just under 76.

Adding to this, the Bills went into Thursday’s game as the number one team in the league as far as average yards per carry allowed with 2.75 yards per carry. After Thursday’s game it finished at 2.6.

I disagree. Defenses should be ahead of offenses in preseason because teams don't show the whole playbook and don't game plan the same way.

But game planning and a few extra plays aren't going to make a completely inept offense into a competent one. Offensive linemen won't stop missing blocks and the QB won't stop missing throws or learn to read D's because of a game plan.

With the Bills offense struggling to stay on the field the defense won't be that great.

Well, I agree except the Bills OL has been a work in progress all preseason. As ThatThurm says, let's see what happens when the games count.

Let's not forget that yesterday the Lions didn't even bother to send some of their 1st-team offensive players to the game much less start any of them.

    LOL

Do you ever wander out into your yard with a fork to see that that brown lumpy thing in the grass is before deciding that it tastes like ****?
