Run D is good, Pass D is suspect.

Hopefully someone figures out how to cover Antonio Gates this weekend.

Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

Not by itself. How about NE in NE. Better for ya?

He was making a joke. We MAY play the Seahawks this year. It would just have to be in the playoffs, specifically the Super Bowl, which is at the "University" of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

    Re: The D is elite

Certainly not elite, but they were scorched by an elite passer. When he's on his game, there is no one better.

    Yesterday, he was on fire.

The thing I'm remembering is the Lions guy from SBnation saying Schwartz rarely blitzes, is not flexible/adaptable with personnel, and will never play press coverage with his DB's 8 yards off the line even on 3rd and 6. To put all my Schwartz gripes in one post, I don't like this cornerback rotation stuff either. Honestly haven't paid attention to how often they blitz or if they use press. It's being said that San Diego confused the DB's with pick plays which we had no answer to, and I thought those were Defense 101.

Anyway, I don't feel so terrible about the personnel as I worry Schwartz is a latter day Wannstedt.

Bills D is giving up fewer than 17 pts/game. Can't knock that.

    Re: The D is elite

The Bills D is elite when Corey Graham plays more than McKelvin or Gilmore.

Still very worried about McKelvin and Gilmore at CB.

    Graham can't cover them all.

They need to blitz more in obvious passing situations.

I had flashbacks to Wannstache on Sunday, and have been physically ill since.

Run D has been good against well below average RBs. Forte averaged 4.8 ypc which isn't good.

I suspect that as we play a lot of RBs better than Donald Brown and Lamar Miller we won't be quite as good.

It's a protection mechanism.

You shroud your childish approach in a vale of pompous, intellectual garbage in an attempt to look smart and "real". You over-analyze even minute points and manipulate statistics to fit your negative view of the team. Again, to feel good about yourself and to protect from getting hurt.

Of course, the criticisms are obviously from someone who has no understanding of the team concept or what it takes to excel at athletics.

The true "realist" understands that they have no control of what happens on the field or behind the closed doors at One Bills' Drive, so they do the prudent thing for a spectator. They enjoy the games on Sunday with family and friends, cheer for their team and realize that it's just entertainment.

"I was an integral part in the drafting process of EJ Manuel," Whaley said Thursday on NFL Network's Total Access. "I was the person that handled the draft process and setting up the board."

"We are committed. I want you to believe me when I say that," Whaley said of building around the second-year quarterback, per The Buffalo News. "I always tell you guys that I'll never say never because I don't want to paint myself in a corner, but when I do say something, I do it and I mean it and I try to fulfill it."

"We believe the addition of Sammy is going to be instant impact, not only to our quarterback, but to what our offensive coordinator can come up with game-plan wise and how defenses attack us," Whaley said.

Whaley on EJ Manuel: "We think we got a gem in this guy." (2:30)

"And as Mark says, if in three years maybe he's not [our quarterback of the future], then I'll be sitting there saying 'hey guys', .... anybody got a job for me?" - Doug Whaley

    The D is NOT elite.

Good defense yes. But not elite. Only Seattle and Arizona are elite at this time.
