    Kyle Orton's Career Stats

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/...520/kyle-orton

6'4 228 lbs, 31 years old, low mileage, seasoned veteran with 9 seasons under his belt and a huge chip on his shoulder after getting screwed over.

2008-2010 stats look exactly like what the Bills are looking for.

20 TD's, half the Int's, and 3500 yards passing on average. Very Russell Wilsonesque like numbers.

    2010 really stands out. 3,653 passing, 20 TD's, 9 picks, 58.8% completion percentage in 13 games played.

Then came Tebow, and Orton has been waiting for a legit second start to his career ever since.

    Timing is everything.

Has Kyle Orton ever had so many weapons to work with in his offensive arsenal?

I don't think there is any better quarterback in the league to mentor EJ Manuel after what Orton has been through in his career.

I think this is the best team he has been on but I am biased.

He has also only been sacked once in the last 3 years.

Yup. And, a QB's record by itself doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. It *can*, but doesn't always. However, I'm not going to jump on the Kyle bandwagon just yet. I 100% agree with the move, and am very curious as to the next few games, but I'm keeping my expectations in check. He could be very rusty and start one hopping balls to the WRs for all we know. But, at the same time, if he were doing that in practice Moron wouldn't have made the switch, as that would be EXTREMELY stupid.

Just because he's a backup doesnt mean they dont let him throw the ball lol. There will obviously be a step up to game speed as well, but I'd imagine a veteran will be able to handle this transition more easily.

A chance at redemption for Orton.

I don't remember Orton playing all that well in Denver before Tebow replaced him.

But I think this Bills team is good enough to go 9-7 or 10-6 with just average QB play which I think Orton can provide.

I'd say Orton is a better passer than Flutie but not Bledsoe.

It's a protection mechanism.

You shroud your childish approach in a vale of pompous, intellectual garbage in an attempt to look smart and "real". You over-analyze even minute points and manipulate statistics to fit your negative view of the team. Again, to feel good about yourself and to protect from getting hurt.

The true "realist" understands that they have no control of what happens on the field or behind the closed doors at One Bills' Drive, so they do the prudent thing for a spectator. They enjoy the games on Sunday with family and friends, cheer for their team and realize that it's just entertainment.

"I was an integral part in the drafting process of EJ Manuel," Whaley said Thursday on NFL Network's Total Access. "I was the person that handled the draft process and setting up the board."

"We are committed. I want you to believe me when I say that," Whaley said of building around the second-year quarterback, per The Buffalo News. "I always tell you guys that I'll never say never because I don't want to paint myself in a corner, but when I do say something, I do it and I mean it and I try to fulfill it."

"We believe the addition of Sammy is going to be instant impact, not only to our quarterback, but to what our offensive coordinator can come up with game-plan wise and how defenses attack us," Whaley said.

Whaley on EJ Manuel: "We think we got a gem in this guy." (2:30)

"And as Mark says, if in three years maybe he's not [our quarterback of the future], then I'll be sitting there saying 'hey guys', .... anybody got a job for me?" - Doug Whaley

Looking over his stats now. Some points of note:

He's 4-19 when throwing the ball more than 35 times.

He's 23-9 when throwing the ball fewer than 30 times.

He's 8-7 when throwing the ball 30-35 times.

He's thrown 3 or more TDs in 5 of 70 starts, about 7% of the time.

He's thrown 2 or more TDs in 26 of 70 starts.

He has a dozen 300 yard games. He's 4-12 in those.

His career yards per attempt is low at 6.6.

His two best full seasons were in Denver in 2009 and 2010. He had 21 TDs and 12 INTs in 2009 and 20 TDs and 9 INTs in 2010. The Broncos were 8-8 and 4-12 in those two seasons.

I'm starting to lose what little enthusiasm I had. Sounds like another prospect that they need to just manage the game and not make mistakes while having to rely on the running game, D and special teams. That low career YPA has me concerned.

In 7 of his 8 wins in 2009 the Bronco rushing game went bananas and have over 100 yards averaging 158 yards per game.

    Re: Kyle Orton's Career Stats

Poor Orton. Cashed in with DAL, got inked with an amazing back-up contract by BUF, only had to actually get onto the field for a mere 10 games since 2011.

    And now THIS!

    O the humanity!
Fiat justitia ruat caelum. Noli timere. Laus Deo.
