    Re: Is Brady still Elite?

I still don't even know what Elite means. I think this is opinion based, and is so obsessed over...

I still think that Brady is very good. What we're seeing with Brady is what we have known all too well. With a bad oline and no one to throw the ball to, even great QB's are going to struggle. Brady right now is the victim of Belichicks arrogance in which he thinks he's so damn smart that he can just plug any player in wherever he wants and have them be great. I'm loving that it's blowing up in his face!

It's a protection mechanism.

You shroud your childish approach in a vale of pompous, intellectual garbage in an attempt to look smart and "real". You over-analyze even minute points and manipulate statistics to fit your negative view of the team. Again, to feel good about yourself and to protect from getting hurt.

Of course, the criticisms are obviously from someone who has no understanding of the team concept or what it takes to excel at athletics.

The true "realist" understands that they have no control of what happens on the field or behind the closed doors at One Bills' Drive, so they do the prudent thing for a spectator. They enjoy the games on Sunday with family and friends, cheer for their team and realize that it's just entertainment.

"I was an integral part in the drafting process of EJ Manuel," Whaley said Thursday on NFL Network's Total Access. "I was the person that handled the draft process and setting up the board."

"We are committed. I want you to believe me when I say that," Whaley said of building around the second-year quarterback, per The Buffalo News. "I always tell you guys that I'll never say never because I don't want to paint myself in a corner, but when I do say something, I do it and I mean it and I try to fulfill it."

"We believe the addition of Sammy is going to be instant impact, not only to our quarterback, but to what our offensive coordinator can come up with game-plan wise and how defenses attack us," Whaley said.

Whaley on EJ Manuel: "We think we got a gem in this guy." (2:30)

"And as Mark says, if in three years maybe he's not [our quarterback of the future], then I'll be sitting there saying 'hey guys', .... anybody got a job for me?" - Doug Whaley

    Re: Is Brady still Elite?

brady is and always was a system qb. he went down one year and matt cassel got 11 wins. the quick throws, pre snap read and running O that got them to 2nd and short (let alone 3rd and short) most of the time was why their O was so good. the wall of mountain men is faltering and it shows.

he never had all world numbers until he had moss, who made randle cunningham, jeff george, and donte freaking culpepper into pro bowlers.

    Re: Is Brady still Elite?

To answer this question, think about this:

If you could have any current NFL QB starting on the Bills right now, how many would you take over Brady to be successful in 2014?

There are maybe 8 that you could put ahead of him. If you want to account for Brady's age, there are maybe a couple of more to throw in there for long term potential.

I don't know how one defines "elite," but if Brady had been the Bills' QB this year, we'd be 3-1 or quite possibly 4-0.

I've heard people say the same thing about Jim Kelly and point to Frank Reich's numbers/success as proof... You can't have it both ways. Anyone who watched Castle could tell he was a placeholder at best surrounded by fantastic talent, and knew the chiefs would be fleeced trading for him. I'm not a huge TB fan, but i think his incredible success rate over the course of his career has earned him some respect.
My wife told me that if I had a dollar for every girl who found me unattractive, girls would find me VERY attractive.

    MY WIFE SAID THAT!!!

Joe Montana was also a system qb.

Success is a combination of skill set, opportunity, and fortunate circumstances.
Brady was a great qb. He's still very good, but I think it is evident age is setting in a bit. Problems on the o-line and fewer playmakers also play a role.
New England is not very good this year. The division is wide open.

Brady is much closer to Fitz than he is to elite QB's at this point.

Brady knows where to go with the ball, but far too often, his arm can not deliver what his head says to do.

Or his terrible receivers don't know where to be.

Belichick got cocky and let Welker walk, and tgen Aaron Hernandez started popping caps. They thought that signing Danny Amen -procelin- dolla was that answer to replacing Wes Welker. This year they traded Logan Mankins and replaced him with a rookie. I hate to say it but Brady isn't the priblem. The guy that's cooking the meal is buying bad groceries.

I agree, the Pats* don't have the talent they had in the past, but Brady overthrew Amendola on the same pattern he overthrew Welker in the Super Bowl & many of his passes look like wounded ducks.

Seriously. Must be what fans of the Falcons/Saints felt like when Montana and Young finally fell apart.

    Re: Is Brady still Elite?

The idea of using "System QB" as a slam on NFL QBs is so stupid I don't know where to start. It's meant as a slam on college QBs who run offenses that rely on trickery or defeating inferior athletes.
