Same here. He's still among the best at scanning the field and anticipating a receiver's position. Sure, he's lost a physical step because of age.

Next week's CIN@NE game should show something. CIN is clicking on all cylinders on defense and looks to get back some starters, vs. HC Lewis being one of the notable prime time chokers.

It sort of helps too when Ernie Adams is illegally feeding Brady the information he needs.

No. The Pats will cut him over the off-season.

I so want him to be done, but I can't shake this feeling that he's going to take it to us a couple more times before hanging them up.

He's the secretive football genius that is behind the Patriots' success. He hides in the shadows and Belechick takes all the public credit. He breaks down all the opponents plays for Brady and is known for his ability to instantly break down plays. There is some compelling evidence some of the stuff the Patriots do is/was outside the scope of the rules. I'm sure you heard of Spygate, but the Patriots were also busted for using extra radio frequency at home which did not cut out as per the rules and was still transmitting to Brady even after the snap. Apparently, Doug Flutie actually picked up one of Brady's helmets by accident and was surprised he could hear it after the cutoff.

Tom Brady has completed only 43% of throws more than 5 yards this season, 2nd-worst in the league behind EJ Manuel (40%)

yeah, he gets some respect, but he's not close to the mannings or JK.

franky R came in for a few games and played well. Matt Cassel came in and did it the whole season. brady had a great early career due to the D and the outstanding line play and run game on his team. he's good, but not what he's made out to be.

the best way i think you can look at it is, back in the day, great qbs like elway, marino, kelly would take a beating and throw picks, and come back and ball out and win games, or at the least push hard to win games. brady gets hit in the mouth and just falls to *****. he reminds me of rich gannon, who was the same thing with the raiders and to a lesser extent KC. high football IQ guy who reads pre snap well and if everyone else does their job, he gets the ball in the hands of the play maker. when it goes wrong, well neither of those guys had the athletic chops to get it done.

You guys are crazy. If he was on this team he would have 300-400 yards every week.

He might have 300 yds a week as QB of the Bills but not 400.

Can't wait to see how many yards Orton can put up.

    Re: Is Brady still Elite?

Scarnecchia's O-lines opened up canyons in the running game, were the backbone of play-action, and routinely neutralized the best pass rushes in the NFL for the last generation or so (Merriman and Shawn Phillips, Freeney and Mathis, etc). Now he's gone, Brady's getting pummeled and the Pats O can't get off the ground.

Doesn't help that we took their D-Line coach too. So they spent last offseason bleeding talented assistants whose replacements aren't getting it done. BB's Coach and GM so it can only be his fault. It's not like 'Mr. Kraft' is ever going to question him anyway.

Brady's been slipping, but it's the rest of the Pats org that are doing their best to get him to hang them up.

I still think that Brady is very good. What we're seeing with Brady is what we have known all too well. With a bad oline and no one to throw the ball to, even great QB's are going to struggle. Brady right now is the victim of Belichicks arrogance in which he thinks he's so damn smart that he can just plug any player in wherever he wants and have them be great. I'm loving that it's blowing up in his face!
    Magnificent post.

He is still elite to me, until we thump him twice in one season.

If we've only learned one thing over the last 14 years, it should be this: there is no better remedy for a struggling team than a game against the Buffalo Bills.

    Re: Is Brady still Elite?

Whether he is elite or not, he will be largely ineffective this year and is likely to take a physical beating in his declining years. He will start to age quickly and badly.
That is my official curse on him and his house.
