Ron Turner: Orton "makes everyone in the huddle better"

Former Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner joined The John Murphy Show to talk about Kyle Orton. He discussed the progression he saw during his 4-years in Chicago and why he was so respected by teammates

Ruben Brown: Kyle Orton "gets the job done". Former Bills all-pro guard Ruben Brown called in to The John Murphy Show to discuss the move to start Kyle Orton at quarterback. Brown played with Orton in Chicago and had high praise for the veteran QB.

Even if Orton played like an average NFL QB that would be a big upgrade. Let face it. EJ does not look NFL ready and was one of the worst QBs in the league over the first four weeks. Maybe only Geno Smith played worse as an aggregate. Throw in an average QB and I think you see a much better offense.

    I'm hoping.

If the OL gets the running game going and can protect, we could have a very good offense.

Re: Ron Turner: Orton "makes everyone in the huddle better"

What I take away from this article is really what we all already knew - this is a guy who can go through his progressions and make the correct read, and make solid throws. he isnt going to be mistaken for Aaron Rodgers but if we can protect the guy he can get the ball to our play makers, which is what was sorely missed with EJ under center

Re: Ron Turner: Orton "makes everyone in the huddle better"

i always said the earliest we could get any real read on ej was after four games, and then it would take two real stinkers in a short span to yank him

    check. and check.

ej simply is not ready. thats fine if this team was full of suck and four wins gets your qb the hard knocks experience he needs. but not when the rest of your team is playoff caliber and youve got a seventy game starter on your bench

ive really been expecting orton to just not suck, to be able to reliably complete standard nfl level throws. ej wasnt doing that two of the four games, so even just a baseline of production from orton would be an upgrade

right now i guess im starting to drink the kool-aid. and maybe it dont taste half bad

What I take from it is that he's got Fitzy smarts and gravitas, but with an NFL arm.

I don't think he's as athletic as Gannon. Maybe another Chris Chandler?

If we have a very good offence we probably win the Division championship.

Re: Ron Turner: Orton "makes everyone in the huddle better"

Hopefully he gets rid of the ball quickly, otherwise the oline might get him killed. If he can improve even marginally over EJ on the mid-range throws, it might help call off the dogs on the pass rush and back somebody out of the box to help FJ and CJ. My biggest concern is still the interior of the offensive line.
