Lose on the SO
So, is it safe to believe risto may be an elite dman now? The guy is just unreal
Correction, Rasmus with 3 assists. They changed the scoring on the third goal.
Risto will likely go down as Darcys best draft pick of his last 10 years in Buffalo.. The Sabres brass loved him and there was no hesitation in taking him when they were on the clock but there were plenty of very good prospects they could have taken @8.. I wanted the Sabres to take Valery Nichushkin... Darnell Nurse who the Oilers took one spot ahead the Sabres I think will eventually be a above average defensemen in the NHL but I think someday Oilers fans will regret the Oilers brass taking Nurse over Risto
this team right now is a decent goalie away from a playoff contender. When does Lehner come back? Ulmark did not look good on a couple of those goals and didn't look good against Nashville.
Lehner was supposed to be out 6-10 weeks, but reportedly had a setback. It's been 7 weeks so far. Figure mid/late December.
Aside from Ullmark's shaky play, understandable that it may be, was the Sabres' cavalier play in their own end. It's not as bad as last year, but for crap sake the giveaways right in front are not helping the rook. Gionta last Friday and Legwand last night cost two goals and the latter eventually cost us the game.
And remember a while back someone said, I think it was Milbury, that Eichel had a rep for being lazy at times. I am starting to see it.
Maybe it's me, but I don't understand why guys, like ROR do last night, like to swing wide all the way to the boards in the shootout. I understand that they might then be able to beat the goalie laterally, but it seems to give the goalie a bigger advantage.
Anyhoo...pretty good game last night. In between some long stretches on their heels, the Sabres were able to get some sustained pressure at times. Nice to get a point in Joe Louis any time and the three goals spanning the second and third were loverly. Hated to see them sit back on their heels like that though. It was too bad Gionta got his stick caught up in that Wing's legs drawing the interference. Had he not, the call could have gone the other way...if the refs were ever inclined to call any interference n Detroit last night.
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.
Oh yeah...looks like a high stick to me.

Why wasn't that reviewed? What can the Sabres do to force one? Shouldn't Bylsma be screaming bloody murder? Wouldn't Hasek be skating like a lunatic out to center ice confronting the official? The Sabres didn't help their cause any. After the goal, Bogosian just skated away with a dumb look on his face.

When was the rule changed?
1993-94 - High sticking redefined to allow goals scored with a high stick below the height of the crossbar of the goal frame.

At any rate, I posted on comment in the discussion of the game at NHL.com. The answer I got was that it went off his shoulder which is entirely legal. It's only illegal if it goes off the stick or gloves. Perhaps it was obvious at ice level. It sure wasn't from the replay.
