McDavid missed nearly half a season which will probably take him out of the hunt, but he's the only rook over a point per game. Domi/Duclair and Eichel/Reinhart have been great 1-2 punches. And Gostisbehere is certainly in the mix.

Right now, I go with Panarin or Gostisbehere with Eichel possibly.
If they look past the fact that Panarin played in the KHL for a couple years, then it will be him. If not, right now it might be Larkin. If Eichel goes on a tear or if McDavid continues playing well to the end of the season, I could see the "establishment" wanting to give it to one of those two. My pick will be Larkin if he doesn't drop off greatly or as I said before, there isn't a great ending for the big two.

He sure has. 2 pts in the last 14 games. Eichel, 13 over the same span.

Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

Larkin is good, but you listen to wings fans talk about him, and they are expecting him to be the next dastyuk. It's not going to happen

Can you blame them? We thought Turgeon was going to be the next Perreault and Housley was going to be the next Orr. Folks today think Taylor is going to be the next great Bill quarterback. Such are fans. :-)

Thanks on Larkin. I didn't realize his drop off has been that significant. I will say then, if he picks back up a bit, it will help.

In a lot of ways, the NHL isn't going to want to pick a ROTY from a team at or near the bottom. They will want one in the playoffs. But, like I said, they will be looking for a reason to give it to Eichel or McDavid after all the hype last year.

The red wings have dropped off as a whole. It's not just larkin, but he's been slowly declining all season after his hot start.

Aren't the awards in June? Anyhoo, of the last five Calder winners, only one has made it to the playoffs MacKinnon (COL).

I don't really care if Eichel wins it. There's only one trophy I care about.

I nearly creamed my shorts back when Perreault won it. Best trophy evah. Somehow, Gordie Howe and Bobby Clark were never ever even considered.

Craig Ramsay should have won that award a time or two. But the NHL has always been about stats first.

Just looked at the list, three former Sabres won it after they left the team, can you name them without Googling?

And one person won it before becoming a Sabre.

Couldn't tell you honestly. Outside of the veznia, I'm not too interested in personal accolades.

I know Soupy won it. He's only one of three defensemen who ever won it and his was the first since Red Kelly I think in '52.

No goalie has ever won it.

Mogilny won it with the Leafs. That was surprising. There were a lot of memorable things about Alex - his fears of flying and defensive hockey come to mind - but sportsmanship sure wasn't one.

    I'm blanking on the others.

At the time of the trade I thought GMTM gave up to much to get Robin Lehner but he is growing on me
