All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
So, jack. He was noticeable all game. He didn't get many chances, detroit played suffocating defense most of the game and most shots weren't great opportunities, but you noticed him. In a good way.
He's still raw, very raw, and he's fighting it right now, but man, he is skilled. Wouldn't mind him being loaned to team USA for the WJC though.
Oreilly was also just outstanding. Loved his game.
Deslauriers was balls to the walls, every damn shift.
Johnson looked ok. But the stat line tells a different story. Buffalo played good defense, but when they broke down, he bailed them out. Very SOLID game from him.
First win in reg at the joe since 1994. First win of any kind at the joe since 2006 (also at that game)
Buffalo draws well at the joe. Fun not being the only sabre fam in attendance.
One thing I noticed about eichel is he tries way too often to do it alone. That'll work in college, or juniors. NHL, not so much. Still, he has the skill to do most of the work alone. And strength. He's a strong kid.

A few other useless/fun facts I've come up with about the history of the matchup:
* The Sabres closely trail the overall series 55-58-13
* Sabres have outscored Detroit 427-422
* The Wings are 4-0 when winning in OT, all four games at the Joe
* Four shootouts have been split with each team winning one at home and one on the road
* The Sabres have scored 10 twice, in '80 and '93. Detroit scored 9 once, in '92.
* The Wings have shutout Buffalo seven times, all in Detroit.
* Buffalo has shutout Detroit twice, both at home.
* The Wings were 11-4-2 through early '73.
* The Sabres dominated 30-8-3 through early '82.
* The series began to even out though the Sabres still led 16-12-7 through '95.
* The Wings have dominated since '93, 27-4-1 up until yesterday.
* The Sabres are unbeaten, 1-0, since yesterday.
