My own personal feelings have no meaning on the outcome, so I can't see how you trying to lay a fan based guilt trip on me makes sense. If the team doesn't play well, I can't make them play better or worse & effect the outcome. So even if I don't like them losing, I understand that it's their fault.

I like the effort this group of plucky Sabres have,

Despite their own fans not wanting them to win, they dig deep and find a way to win.

What is there not to like about these guys?

Yeah, it's tight. But the sabres have a lead and a tie breaker, and everyone is running under the assumotion that the yotes don't get any points themselves. it's nerve-wracking, but the sabres have the inside track. Next games against the hawks. I like that.
