The 25-year old is two years into his six-year, $25.5 million deal. Since he’s still under 26-years old, his buyout would only be one-third of his salary and not two-thirds. A buyout would then only cost the Sabres $6.27 million.

Meh I still don't believe one bad season negates the several years of productive hockey he played before. He probably will get bought out (I'd wait and see if Eichel goes back to college before pulling the plug for sure ) but a team will probably take a chance on him.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman was asked about the Vegas situation last night in Winnipeg.
“What I’m hearing is that the season-ticket drive has gone and is going extraordinarily well,” Bettman said,per the Canadian Press. “When we get to the [board of governors] meeting in June I will report to the board as to where things stand based on the expressions of interest and we’ll figure out then what, if anything, we want to do.”
